MORNING HEADLINES: Debt! Cops! Criminals!

Posted on Mon, Aug 1, 2011 at 9:02 AM

Deal! — Democrats and Republicans finally came together and "compromised," making sure the universe isn't sucked into a giant black hole and destroyed. They also raised the debt ceiling and got a standing ovation from financial markets round the world. (Salon)

But wait! There's more — Not everyone is happy about this "compromise," particularly conservatives and liberals. (NYT, TPM)

Green means go — And red means stop, idiots! No more grace period for those who violate Spokane's red light cameras. Pay robocop already. (KXLY)

Steal car, ram into house — Not the best plan, but it seems to happen every now and again. Rachel Banks, 24, was driving a stolen Honda Accord early this morning. She eluded Spokane police for a time before ramming into a house on North Maple and trapping herself in the car, effectively putting herself in jail. She was found, freed and arrested. Cops letting criminals catch themselves. Genius. (SR)
