Deputies disrupt Benewah breakout attempt

Posted on Thu, Feb 2, 2012 at 4:23 PM

Inmates at the Benewah County Jail succeeded in breaking through a wall in their cell before being thwarted by prison guards on Wednesday.

The attempted jailbreak was discovered by deputies after a disturbance that night, according to the St. Maries Gazette Record. The cell held Jody Miller, who was awaiting sentencing for second-degree murder, and Tim Allen, who was imprisoned on a parole violation.

The duo had already gotten through a Sheetrock wall in a cell bathroom, and deputies believe they were planning on breaking through the exterior wall next.

Allen was transferred to the Shoshone County Jail, while Miller was put in Benewah County's maximum security cell.
