"Thrift Shop" by Seattle duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis hits No. 1 on Billboard charts

Seattle-based hip-hop/rap duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis now have the No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 list with their hit single "Thrift Shop" feat. Wanz, the rapper proudly announced on his Facebook page this afternoon.

(In other news, on Monday the Mack announced on Facebook his engagement to girlfriend of seven years, Tricia Davis.)

The single "Thrift Shop," the fifth off the duo's debut, self-released album The Heist, is also currently the No. 1 song on iTunes.

The Heist was released on Oct. 9, 2012, and even before that seemed destined for massive success, as it reached the top-selling album spot on iTunes just hours after it was released. Macklemore -- whose real name is Ben Haggerty -- and his recording partner/producer Ryan Lewis, a Ferris High School grad, stopped in Spokane a week after the album's release on the first leg of their Heist tour for crazy, high-energy and sold-out show. You can read about it and see photos of the concert here.

Be proud, fellow Washington music fans, of this Cinderella success story of sorts, and if you haven't checked out this pair's stuff, get on that immediately 'cause you've been missing out.
