NEWS: Some reaction to news that Gonzaga hired the University of Missouri's ex-communications professor Melissa Click. A video of Click went viral last year when she was caught on camera telling student journalists to remove themselves from a public demonstration on campus. Click called for some "muscle" to help remove one photographer.

MUSIC: Cheeky one-liners, just enough twang and "What, they're playing in Spokane next week?!": a few highlights from culture writer Dan Nailen's Bumbershoot.

• The Spokane Park Board is looking to get financial help cleaning up years of soil contaminated with railroad traffic and industrial waste in Riverfront Park through a state program. (Spokesman-Review)

• Bart Logue was selected as Spokane's first permanent police ombudsman since Jan. 2015, filling a 21-month vacancy (though Logue had been working on an interim basis for several months prior). (Spokesman-Review)

ICYMI: The Washington Post profiled North Idahoans prepping for the day shit hits the fan.

• The Seattle Times will be giving live updates on the state Supreme Court McCleary school-funding hearing today. The court has imposed a $100,000 per day fine on the state for not fully funding public education.
