Re: Blue Recycle Buckets

Posted on Sat, Dec 29, 2012 at 8:23 AM

So you had a misunderstanding with the city of Spokane about the old
recycle bins, and you lost yours. Jeers to you for choosing to deal with
the situation by jeering and ranting and issuing meaningless threats (do
you really think anyone cares whether you, as one individual, recycle or
not? I'm sure the folks at the city are shaking in their boots). Let me
present you with at least one other option you could have chosen. You could
have posted a Cheers to congratulate the city for finally getting its act
together and going to single-stream recycling. Then you could have
explained the loss of your old recycle bin, and politely asked if anyone
had one they didn't want that they could give you. I'll bet you would have
had more offers of little blue bins than you could shake a stick at. And
jeers not just to this person, but to all of us (I include myself, because
I sometimes do it too) who react with knee-jerk anger when we feel we've
been wronged, rather than trying to find a way to make the situation
better. Could we all start trying to be a little more mature?

Suspicious Activity

Posted on Sat, Dec 29, 2012 at 8:23 AM

To our bank for considering our Canadian hotel reservation "suspicious
activity" and locking down our account after we got to Nelson, BC. Bank
security called my wife, and she answered all their security questions, and
they assured her that everything was OK, but repeated attempts to use our
card were declined. After several very expensive phone calls to our bank,
we were told it was our fault for not telling them that we were going out
of the country, and that nothing could be done until we visit our branch on
Monday! We returned to Metaline Falls, and the card was still declined.
Fortunately a Subaru will go a lloooonnggg way on empty. We couldn't reach
a human being using the number on the card, so I had to use my smart phone
to get another number, at $15 a megabyte. Way to go! You aren't the bank
you used to be. We're outta there

I Can't Take It Anymore

Posted on Sat, Dec 29, 2012 at 8:23 AM

It's high time to start pushing back against what seems to be a growing
number of people living in our 'fine' community who seem to think that they
are so important that their lives, activities and philosophies take
precedent over everyone else's. People whose attitudes fairly scream "
dare you to confront my care-less attitude no matter how far over the line
of decency and respect I step'. Well, I'm stepping. I'll start close to
home, with those neighbors of mine who have dogs that are allowed to bark
constantly, not only all day, but well into the evening, and especially
whenever I simply wish to go out in my own backyard. C'mon, people! Are
you so deaf that that you can't hear it? I think not. I call and you bring
him in for what, five minutes? Then he's right back out there, barking his
a** off, which shows a total lack of respect for anyone else's right to go
be outside, in their own yard. I know you can hear him. And, he's not a
Labrador, like you told my 86-year-old mother (but that's a different can
of worms). And two houses to the west, why there's another houseful of
people who obviously share the same credo. What's wrong with you people!
Are you that unmindful of other people's right to enjoy the sanctity of
their own property? Are you that thoughtless? Do you think that it's okay?
Or, do you even think about it? I doubt it. I seriously doubt it.

Do Not Enter

Posted on Sat, Dec 29, 2012 at 8:23 AM

To the guy who decided to ENTER through the EXIT ONLY at the Starbucks on
Thierman and Sprague on Thursday morning 12/20. First of all, Merry
Christmas. Secondly, if you are gonna flip me the bird, make sure it was I
who was doing something illegal, not you. I was in your way because I was
exiting... through the exit.

you have dark hair and eyes with a cool sense of style, we met at a small
bar I worked at and then we hung out one night at the Moose Lounge in CDA.
You were with a friend from out of town. Anyhow we hit it off and you wrote
some useful info on my arm, 3rd street perhaps? Haven't seen you since, but
would love to, hope you see this!

All The Best

to the proud, gritty elderly woman who crossed Wellesley and made it into
the RiteAid/Walmart parking lot in your wheelchair. You had a great sense
of humor about the situation and nothing unkind to say the person
who "didn't" see your struggle. I hope you are well, loved and safe in your
life. God bless, j

Hello Lova!

Posted on Sat, Dec 29, 2012 at 8:23 AM

Are you going to be gone "long time or little time"? I am going to miss our
amazing dance moves, with the occassional dip. I am going to miss our epic
high fives! I am going to miss your properly groomed beard in my mouth
during our platonic hugs, and the smell of your man deodorant! In your
absence I will push Fireball shots onto innocent tables, and encourage more
Pistol Whips to the unsuspecting. Have an amazing time Down Under. Love
your lova!

No Trash Here!

Posted on Sat, Dec 29, 2012 at 8:23 AM

Kudos to this year's crop of Highlanders (Shadle Park High) who use my
alley to "secretly" smoke and smooch, not a one of you has left any
half-eaten pizza, choclate milk cartons or fast food wrappers on the ground
(my yard) when you were done with them this year. Thank you! Your
upbringing shows and you certainly are more responsible than the
authorities and students I dealt with last year. Yay you!
