Steve Wing grew up in Butte, Montana, where his family had settled in the 1880s. At the University of Montana in Missoula, he entered the creative writing program, though it was anybody’s guess how he would come out: He wrote stories, but his friend the playwright was sure he should write plays, his friend the songwriter said he should write songs, the fiction professor advised him to write poems, and the poetry professor told him he was a good critic. He continued with stories. Lately, his stories have been turning into novels, and if anybody out there would like to move to New York to be his agent....
