15th Annual Small Artworks Invitational

Here’s another of our suggestions to entertain your holiday guests this week — show them some fabulous local art. The Art Spirit Gallery revealed its Small Artworks Invitational earlier this month, but you can still see the more than 250 pieces on display for about another week. For the 15th annual show, the respected Coeur d’Alene gallery invited 39 Inland Northwest-based artists to create new works under one-foot in dimensions. A few of the recognizable names in the show include Harold Balazs, Mel McCuddin, Robert Grimes, Kay O’Rourke and Sister Paula Turnbull. Pieces range from sculptures, paintings, clay and glass art to prints and metal work. Gallery owner Steve Gibbs says many of the art is still available to buy.
