Re: “Community Commemoration

The monument is along side the Centennial Trail in Spokane Valley. And it has been there for a while. Before the trail was put in place, it was completely off the beaten path.

Re: “The Lost Chapter

What happened to the deferred / exempt tax status issues that caused this vote to fail? It had to do with charging taxes to people that were exempt that was to make the initiative invalid at either the county or state level?

Re: “The Gender Games

Fathers are less likely to win a custody battle for their children simply because of their gender. IN domestic violence cases men are almost always going to pay the consequences regardless of fault. Yet you believe this is where gender inequality lies?

Re: “ESSAY | What's In A Wi-Fi Name?

You just got an iPod Touch!?!?! Are you telling me you've never had a smartphone, a tablet, a laptop, a smart tv, a gaming console, a printer, or 100s of other items with Wi-Fi? This article is embarrassing and very late in the game. Next you should talk about the wonderful visual accomplishments of VHS hahahahahaha

Re: “People Power

People already vote with their dollars, and they do it every day. Walmart, Chevron etc. People can criticize and try to mount boycotts, but they should hedge their bets and buy shares of stock, too.
Fanciful politics won't pay for groceries when you're old, but dividends will.

Re: “Caught in a Mosh

Way back in the day it was called slam dancing. If you went to a show by a band like Black Flag, you could wind up with a black eye, broken nose, or missing a tooth (teeth). Things got a little sporty outside the venues, too. You didn't so much as go to shows as you survived them.

Re: “Caught in a Mosh

I thought you said rock was supposed to be dangerous when you were trashing the Eagles. The Caught in a Mosh story seemed pointless except to possibly try to get some street cred by pointing out that you were there getting your battle scars in the days of Circle Jerks and GBH. You should be old enough to know better. It sounds like you are only struggling to convince people (or more importantly yourself) of your relevance to the “scene”.

Re: “Facing History

"Whatever Glover's faults, they do not fall on the scale of mass oppression and systematic injustice. He was not a killer or a slaveholder. There's no evidence he was more prejudiced than most white men of the time."

Glover did not contribute to oppression or systematic injustice?! Why does the writer excuse Glover's actions?! What about Natives and women?! What about anybody that's ever been wrongly institutionalized and separated from society?! You don't have to kill or enslave somebody to oppress them. You just have to marginalized their voices.

Re: “The Gender Games

Women still struggle with equality issues, but I've got to say - this is a strange way to illustrate those struggles. I open the door all the time for both men and women and have NEVER had any strange reactions...Most men just say thank you...Maybe it's your attitude that makes men react in strange ways. You say that it's a game...Do you have a snarky attitude when you open the door for a man verses a woman? When I open the door for a man I just act like it's no big deal...because it isn't! I just happened to get to the door first....This is a really strange article - it seems like these articles just try to pit men and women against each other - how is that helpful?!?

Re: “For Your Consideration

Stapleton's album is a good one, and worth every dollar. If you liked it, you have to listen to Sturgill Simpson. His amazing voice is a combination of Hag and Waylon, and his song writing is classic, authentic, and witty in a wry way. Do yourself a favor and get his albums "High Top Mountain" and "Metamodern Sounds In Country Music."
