Re: “Legal Hustle

Cip paulsen is a horrible man. His cocaine use and alchol behavior along with a unbelievable anger issues should be questioned. Want a real story should start with how he treats his employees with the shameful things he says and hostile environment that he denies. The buildings is saturated with mold that effects the wellness of the employees health along with the real inadequate exhaust and electrical that's been installed. Think about this for a second, convicted cocaine king pin grows weed? Cip should be locked behind bars for the rest of life, grow state take a real walk around.

Re: “For Your Consideration

Get both of Isbel's albums. And if you don't listen to the Drive by Truckers, what the hell's wrong with you? Buy some of them, too.

Re: “Spokane Style

Great article, including the coverage on Ken Brooks. Mr. Brooks' appreciation for the larger context of architecture - including his ideas on improving Spokane's relationship with the river is something few are aware of. Bill Youngs' excellent book "The Fair and the Falls" provides a great quote from Brooks, showing just how far ahead of his time he was: “Look, if you’re going to do something for the City of Spokane, reclaim that river. Get the pollution out of it; get it back to its original state if possible. And it should be the feature of our city.” Were he alive today, am sure Ken would be pleased at our City's progress - and would urge us to keep at it.

Re: “Spokane Style

I'm a huge fan of Spokane, so please don't take this wrong. I just get so frustrated because it could be so much better. It could be the most awesome city in the Northwest. But there are crappy decisions that bring it down. Like those cheap planters in the opera house. It's beautiful building, but that cheap blue planter brings the whole place down to a meh level.

This trail is beautiful, an easy hike for the whole family! I've got more detailed driving directions and info about the trail posted at my blog if anyone is interested.

Re: “Parallel Parking

Once they get this part of the city charter, any neighborhood with such a mixed use scenario, across the downtown corridors, can apply and build them out.

It makes sense for it first to get approval and show promise in the Main/Division/Post street rectangular zone that the city has already been developing with the Convention Center, WSU, and Grand Hotel. With Riverfront moving forward, areas that aren't near bars, but could serve as stops for people on the move who can use these zones will make more people interested in staying in the downtown corridor. Build out from there.

Re: “Parallel Parking

How about focusing getting on other neighborhoods besides Main. It gets all the attention. Energy keeps going to Main and it is already vibrant.

Re: “Parallel Parking

We also need more public art --whimsical sculptures that double as benches for example.

Re: “Wet Sounds

Your "critique" would hold only a minuscule amount of accuracy if you were sitting just outside of the emergency exit, with door ajar. Maybe you were...maybe not. I'm assuming the latter, since you probably would have complained about that, as well.

Your piece sounds more like a desperate attempt to make a name for yourself. If a show is so unsettling for you, maybe you shouldn't sit down for Singin' in the Rain with the expectations of the original Golden Globe Award winners. But, if you must make a name for yourself, then my hat...not necessarily "off" to you; more like a subtle "tipping" of my hat.

A valiant attempt on your part, but it looks as though the show and its cast outshined you. There's always next time...

Just like a cast and a bad show (although, not in this case), you'll have some bad reviews as a critic. Definitely some inaccurate ones. Don't beat yourself about this one. Shake it off and try to move past it. After all, your opinion matters...? lol

With respect to your inaccurate critique, well, you know what they say: "that's one man's opinion" (albeit, a very tiny man).

Re: “Still Number One

Mikes the man! I know him, he's an OG. With great weed comes great responsibility, and being #1 is something he has earned and no one can ever take that from him. Good luck to Mike and good luck to our nation as we move forward with this controversial issue.

Re: “Still Number One

Wow, what BS! It is totally legal and as long as he is not stoned on the job there should be nothing wrong with it. I do not support drugs personally but weed and alcohol are equal in most ways and weed is better then alcohol in quite a few such as aggression and driving impaired. Much less accidents and fights with people who are stoned vs alcohol. I wish him the best!

Re: “Channeling Mildred Bailey

Loved this article! Mildred Bailey was a powerful woman in Jazz... As a matter of fact I have Mildred Bailey's piano that she played for Nat King Cole along with her original sheet music and other collectible stuff. I stumbled upon this article because I was interested in selling this stuff.

There's a fire in the Indian painted rocks area right now. Off limits.

Re: “Hikes Every Local Should Do

Kamiak Butte near Palouse, WA. It's a Whitman County park with bathrooms and picnic facilities. The hike is a 3.5 mile loop up, along, and down the Butte. Panoramic views of the Palouse in most directions along the top of the Butte itself. The trial is well marked and well maintained, and I'd call it moderate or less in difficulty because there is some elevation gain. The drive to the Park from Spokane takes you through some really scenic parts of the Palouse.

Re: “Hikes Every Local Should Do

Your hike #5, Mt. Kit Carson Trail, Mt. Spokane State Park is in danger of being destroyed if the ski park expansion is allowed to take place. That would mean that this remote pristine area will no longer be the undeveloped wilderness that it is now. Contact Washington State Parks Commission and ask them to protect this intact forest ecosystem.

Re: “Hikes Every Local Should Do

Jerry, ALL users should look out for others on the trail. A hiker quietly walking and popping around the corner in front of a horse can cause a serious accident. If you hear a horse (or anyone else) around a corner or through the bushes, you really should call out and let them know you are there. Courtesy to ALL.

Re: “Hikes Every Local Should Do

Hike these year round - good descriptions! The Liberty Lake Loop actually has MANY options that includes some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere AND longer hikes from the "Loop" all the way to Mica Peak (20-22 miles) :)
