Re: “Band to Watch 2015: LOOMER

I appreciate how the author of this article, (Mike Bookey), actually talks a bit about the music.... For most of the article actually, yet in a way that is both layman and astute. No real mention on what they wear or what other local bands they can be pigeonholed alongside. It was concise, has good flow, and makes me want to hear the band. Thanks for a good article, Mike!

Re: “Pay to Play

As a local musician, teacher, and small time performer, this pretty well digs our graves and covers it over as well. Thanks for shutting down local venues where real live neighbors can visit and share songs they have written or covers they do to support other obscure musicians, who have NOT and will NOT benefit from any of these regulations. A FEW songwriters....I've never known any....will ever actually get published or compensated. Now they will have no places to get known, even just locally, and share their music. We will have the top 40 only...and they are already quite well off. Please anyone tell me what I am missing in this dismal understanding, so I have something less dreary to tell my young students. I am a fan of the "never heard of songwriters and bands". Where do they fit in?

Re: “Audio Devotion

I am truly sorry that you can't enjoy the trip. Musically, I plan my trip accordingly. As soon as i'm out of CdA, I channel on EWU jazz. I listen to that {forgiving reception) until I can receive the mexicano stations. I continue until I can receive KBS, the best station ever.

Re: “Pay to Play

I can tell you as a former partner in the Tin Ear in the early 80s, when ASCAP came calling it was like the mafia coming down on you. There is little mercy, and they care not whether it puts you out of business or not.

If you're looking for a local barter fair to attend this year consider the Gemini festival event taking place the first 2 weekends of June 2015. Taking place at the Flowery Trail Barter fair located on flowery trail rd in the beautiful colville national Forrest between chewelah and Usk Wa. About an hours drive north from Spokane. Find more information by searching Fb for flowery trail barter fair

Re: “Thoughts on Black Happy

I urge anyone with a Pono player to rip your CDs on there . Add Shovel Jerk as well. It brought me back to my cd system in a 72 Nova . Now I listen to Jake Shimbakura on iPhone in a Fiat.

Re: “Moving On

This is a great article. I'm so saddened to know Terri won't be performing at the show tonight with her bright smile and spunky attitude, but I know she will be there in spirit. I'm so honored to call Simba a good friend of mine. He truly inspires me to be a better person and help my community. He always stays humble and will shake every single persons hand who comes up to him with a great smile . Anytime I'm In Moscow I make a point to see this man and anywhere we meet he is always greeted by new or even old friends. Stay smiling simba you are changing our world with every breath you take!
