Re: “Rocker Soccer '83

Fun story. And for the record, High and Dry was their best album. Mutt Lange produced it, and it still sounded like hard rock. Their later albums were more popular, but their glossy, multi layered production was a hair band cliché almost immediately.

Re: “Blasting Back

These guys' body of work is impressive. IMO, Dave Alvin's 4th of July with X is one of the great American songs, at least in rock. Hopefully these guys get a little more attention. They probably don't care too much, but they deserve it.

Re: “To the Point

Ask him about his politics. The Inlander would hate them. But that reinforces the fact King Buzzo's a god-like genius with a suitcase full of street cred.

Re: “Spokane Sounds Like...

The recent Alice in Chains show sold out in about 5 seconds after tickets went on sale last March, and Pearl Jam sold out just as quickly for their show in 2013. We like our grunge here, too. Are you listening, Soundgarden?

Re: “No Stopping Him

I met Graham Nash in 1966 - while I working in a "record" store in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Actually, I was not introduced. Actually, I did not have my picture taken with him. Actually, I did not get an autograph. Actually, I did not even go to the concert. Still . . . on cue . . . when they all walked into our store . . . I dropped the needle on the turntable . .. to play . . ."Bus Stop". Thrilled. My memory. My memory. No one can top this. I was 16 years old. I am going to see him in St Charles, IL and hope to meet him - after 49 years - but who is counting. Maybe I can take a "selfie" with Graham. I am hopeful. What a wonderful time that was . . . musically - not in any other way . . . but what a wonderful job to have. I was so lucky.

Re: “All Man

I've seen him solo several times this past year and the shows have been great. Without all the Brothers (whom I love), you get more Gregg! And his band is so tight and talented, it's the best of all worlds.

Re: “All Man

I have 2 excellent tickets for sale for this concert. I am crying because I can't make the concert...
Available on Craig's List.

Re: “Lightening the Mood

I love these guys so much, and wish nothing but the best for them. If you like heavy music at all - I saw these guys practicing their set this December, and it's to heavy... It's so good.

Please please PLEASE!!! GO CHECK IT OUT!

Re: “No Peaceful Easy Feeling

Oh my goodness. Please don't jump to the conclusion that I am a fan of the Eagles based upon what I am about to's just that the way you write is off putting, and frankly, .makes you sound like a condescending douche bag.

Re: “No Peaceful Easy Feeling

If you loved the 80s, then you clearly were not paying attention or not born yet. I don't even know where to begin in regards to Dan's love of that era. I just disagree with his choice of words and attempt to change the views of the public to match his narrow "I'm cooler that your are"...point of view. Don't listen to that music! Listen to this music! Back in civilization (Seattle) you can actually do both. You can enjoy local bands (who might actually make something of themselves) and you can see old classic bands who paved the way for many of those new bands in ways they don't even know about. A true musician will listen to every kind of music. A true music fan can listen to and appreciate every kind of music. Some of these fans will pay the money to see anyone they want to see perform live. Some people like to go out to a club and drink themselves to sleep. This is the kind of music fan Dan sounds like. I just have to remind him that whatever cool background he comes from and whatever great music he listens to, someone out in our great big world thinks he is an idiot for listening to it. This is true for all of us. In this case, the idiot was given a full page to vent publically. Who was the idiot that let him do that?

Re: “No Peaceful Easy Feeling

Maybe next week the Inlander can find a music critic older than age 13. but I suppose this is what happens when a local rag has event competition...

Re: “No Peaceful Easy Feeling

Well, the more even Spokesman review is in while you were busy at Volume. Seems the crowd loved more than three hours of music. You didn't bother to follow up, right? Right- carry on with your hipster view that you know it all. Just know that you will never achieve their level of success, will be a critic but one who cannot demonstrate or create, and will not be felt sorry for when youngsters start trashing your sacred music in the future. All of this will be yours, asshole!

Re: “No Peaceful Easy Feeling

Wow. Way to "rant" about a band you obviously dislike. So much for true journalism. Your points made little sense to me as they're nothing in comparison. The people who went I'm sure sought out a much better venue than those you referred to. You should start a blog instead of ranting about a band you dislike under the Inlander name. What a crap story.

Re: “No Peaceful Easy Feeling

Comparing them to a Motley Crüe show.. ? You obviously have no clue about the band or their music. That's like going to Dicks Burgers and complaining because their Lobster sucks.. You Sir, are a complete moron, and should never be allowed to write about music again. I see your name on an article and to the trash it goes. So some stats while I'm at it to help inform you better. five number-one singles, six Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, and six number one albums... The Eagles are one of the world’s best-selling bands of all time, having sold more than 150 million records[3]—100 million in the U.S. alone—including 42 million copies of Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) and 32 million copies of Hotel California.. Maybe you could write about skateboarding or something..? New hair colors for summer..? I know! gif just came to facebook! .. But never music again.. Inlander fire this clown so I can read and suggest your paper again.

Re: “No Peaceful Easy Feeling

On trashing the Eagles, you came off as both pretentious and intolerant. You made it sound as if they planned to specifically play a show during your sacred Volume event. It’s none of your business how much their tickets cost and who buys them- those people probably aren’t interested in Volume anyway. It is not your place to decide when a band should hang it up and suggest their retirement funds are full enough. The Eagles will decide when they have enough money. They have been more successful than you will ever likely be and without your support either. You must not be familiar with the Eagles since you suggest they fail to be a dangerous rock band. They were never marketed as one- they were just country rock. Comparing them to the Sex Pistols and Ramones is simply ridiculous. Don’t forget that at least two veteran metal heavyweights, Zakk Wylde (BLS) and Kerry King (Slayer), actually like to listen to the Eagles and Elton John. Maybe they don’t pass your pretentious sniff test though.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, you wrote another article on rules to follow while moshing- wait. I thought you said rock was supposed to be dangerous when you were trashing the Eagles. The Caught in a Mosh story seemed pointless except to possibly try to get some street cred by pointing out that you were there getting your battle scars in the days of Circle Jerks and GBH. You should be old enough to know better. It sounds like you are only struggling to convince people (or more importantly yourself) of your relevance to the “scene”.

Re: “No Peaceful Easy Feeling

Most local bands are just plain aweful to listen to. The handful that are tolerable almost assuredly will not sell out our humble hometown arena 30 years from now.

I would have a hard time convincing 9 of my friends to go to Volume. I would have had friends fighting over an extra ticket to the Eagles had I had an extra.

We are entitled to our opinions. Mine is that the Eagle were worth every damn cent I paid, and that your opinion sucks.

Re: “No Peaceful Easy Feeling

Well Dan, judging from the comments, the People Have Spoken, and they seem to disagree with your rant.
But take heart, these are the same People who elected one Reagan & two (possibly three, if current trends continue) Bushes... and have made Fox the #1 rated cable news network in the country.
To quote the immortal words of Mojo Nixon: "Don Henley must die!"
