Re: “When Sharing Isn't Caring

The main divide in this case keeps popping up. In a country where police falsify reports(proven), plant drugs(proven), spew racial slurs on cam (proven), throw out witness/testimony incriminating to them. In this case particular: Officer Darren Wilson was a part of a police unit in Jennings, MO that was removed for racism(not a lot of you guys bringing that up), but with all those types of things happening it makes what a lot of you call "facts" , "evidence", "witnesses said", etc... People on the other side are very skeptical of these so called facts, witnesses when it's all done behind closed doors and in house. Throw words like "grand jury" , 'evidence corroborates' etc around and to some it's case closed while to others its all from the same system that gave you jim crow, 3/5 compromise, rampart scandal, the list goes on of reasons why a certain population or some ppl in general don't take everything the "system" spits out as altruistic and correct. If they'll plant drugs on young black males to meet a quota or just because they don't like them, and then write up a bogus report. Why is it so far fetched to mold a case behind closed doors to defend an officer in this country? None of us were there so it could be EITHER way!!!.. BUT to act like there's no way the "system" could ever do something shady in a case like this and dismiss any rebuttle is very intellectually dishonest given the stuff we KNOW to be true about police corruption/ wrong doings in this country. Just be honest

Re: “The New Normal?

Yes, we need to elect people who are intelligent, and get their info from science and not "old time religion", and this applies to population control as well.
I don't know how many times I've been driving behind a car here in town, and some idiot throws a lit cigarette out the window. I don't think it would be extreme at all to have these people summarily executed on the spot, as an example to others who are just as ignorant and stupid, just to keep them out of the gene pool.

Re: “When Sharing Isn't Caring

Wow. What a false story that only clueless liberals would believe. The guy was a criminal, plain and simple. The "hands up don't shoot" quote was a proven lie.

What a disappointing article.

Thank you for presenting the background on this. When you get a moment, would you please correct the spelling of Gary's last name?

Re: “Trumped-Up Politics

What mystifies socialists is that people enjoy Donald Trump and for all of the bluster, they find him far more believable, trustworthy and likeable than the criminal element they call their political leaders. Truth be told, he is far more liberal than most democrats and far more reasonable than most republicans in the field. He is middle of the road and he loves his country, two things despised by the left.

What they fear is he might get elected, demonstrate true leadership and guide the nation from ruin to prosperity. Socialism fears prosperity more than a good education. If people go to work and increase their personal wealth it will destroy their dream of a drug addled population utterly dependent on social programs for their survival.

There is a reason socialists/democrats advocate for legal drug use for children of all ages, sexual deviance and releasing our nations worst criminals back onto the streets. They strive to create a world of despair, misery, poverty and shared hopelessness.

Trump can do as he likes and he cannot be bought for the price of a Happy Meal, unlike a Clinton or Uncle Bernie.

Re: “Process of Elimination

For the next article in the series, I think the first name of "Dennis" is actually "John."

And we won't learn anything about candidate #17, George Pataki?

Re: “The New Normal?

The real sad part of this story, is that the writer does not have any idea of how hot or cold it is in Death Valley, no idea if we have more or less fish in the river than we did 75 years ago and no clue when it comes to proclaiming this the worst drought, fire season or driest winter.

100 years ago the fires were massive and burned from Spokane to Montana, killing hundreds of people. There have been massive wildfires as long as there have been trees, grasslands and forests. It has been drier at least five times since 1900 and the river has flowed far lower during the summer many times since 1880. The real facts are that socialists at the Inlander have absolutely no clue when it comes to most of the issues of the day, they simply want to bang the drum of socialist ignorance.

If the "new normal" is ignorant reporters, spouting misinformation in order to shill for their socialist party masters, we are already there my friend.

Re: “Trumped-Up Politics

Trump is inexperienced and is getting by with glibness, but no Democrat can credibly complain about that after "hope and change."

Re: “Walk This Earth

Dubdub's response is so wacky it doesn't even warrant a response.

I'm just glad this author is bold enough to talk about the social impacts of racism in a personal an accessible way that invites other people to reflect on how their experiences might be radically different from her own. Spokane really is uncomfortable talking about race (as the other commenters evidence) and the only way we are going to get more comfortable with our differences and be able to embrace our common humanity is by talking it out just like this.

Re: “The Sanders Surge

Bernie is yet another in a long endless line of leftist half-wits who continually convince the sick, lame and lazy that they can shuffle their way to wealth by taking it from those who work hard, pay their bills and save for retirement. Promise something for nothing and watch the democrats line up.

The problem is that everyone of either party in the "political class" is their job is to serve their rich masters, even Bernie is a slave to Soros. Obama has suffered two major election year defeats and lost control of both houses of congress for his party and nothing has changed, absolutely nothing.

Nothing was repealed, no Obamacare repeal or fix, no fix for illegal immigration, no border fence, no spending control, no reform of anything, anyone or any industry. No Keystone XL pipeline is being built, no government lands opened to oil or gas exploration. Trillions in new debt and no end to new debt in sight. No hope of higher wages and no chance of new high wage jobs.

If you vote for Hillary or Trump or Bernie or Scott Walker,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nothing will change, absolutely nothing. The Koch brothers will still golf with George Soros and Bill Gates will still stay at a Trump resort for billionaires on the holidays.

The only difference is that with Bernie at the helm, if you work, you will go broke paying taxes to support those who choose to not work. Energy prices will sky rocket, your retirement account will be seized by the government to further fund social security and your (real) wages will decline faster than ever. A flood of illegal immigrants will engulf our nation and crime will rise as the socialists empty prisons and allow the criminal element of this nation to run wild. America will become a socialist sewer, covered in a haze of dope smoke and lorded over by a socialist elite that is completely above the law.

Re: “When Sharing Isn't Caring

Reporting false facts is bad. Purposely omitting germaine true facts...also bad. Shame shame shame, shame for everyone. Of course on the one hand you've got a pack of Facebook idiots and a crazy uncle Larry, and on the other hand is the Director of Education for The Society of Professional Journalists (la-dee-da).

Re: “Walk This Earth

I really do not understand her bio comments.

What is a "survivor of the child welfare system"?

Socialists/progressives constantly advocate for child welfare, welfare and government control of child rearing. As a matter of fact, socialists in Great Britain are advocating for seizure of all children and forced incarceration in state run boarding houses and schools until their 18th birthdays. Government run child welfare schemes are considered far superior to actual parenting by a mother and father in leftist circles. Her success as a leftist writer is a testament to the programs success.

Why is "born into poverty" a problem?

Andrew Carnegie went from abject poverty to the richest man on earth in his lifetime, Bill Gates has done quite well from modest beginnings and rising from poverty is/was the American before socialism became the order of the day. Poverty is an arbitrary income level since the 1960's, it does not mean hunger, homelessness or lack of education or opportunity. If anything, poverty insures a free college education, food, home and clothing for life. Combined with being female and native American, "Poverty" means you get the gold standard in free stuff from every state local and federal program that exists.

I guess it was that 3rd grader picking on you that really crushed you for life? I imagine it must be tough to carry that millstone, the scars of 3rd grader teasing. I wonder where I would be if I had let a booger eating idiot set my life's course when I was 9 years old?

You know what I love? Not people's quirks, differences or worldviews actually. I love it when they can make their way through life without blaming every setback, failure or negative comment on racism or "white privilege". I love it when people (especially those legally in America) go to work, earn a living and succeed at life. I want to live in a nation where hard work, family, financial responsibility and a balanced budget are not something to be criticized or belittled, they are to be envied and emulated.

Can you be "authentic" and still blame everyone else for every slight all the way back to 3rd grade? I think the word you were looking for is "Pathetic".

Re: “The Sanders Surge

As a socialist, is Bernie hoping to do for (to?) the U.S. what leftists and socialists did for Greece? He could use the slogan "Opa and change."

Re: “The Sanders Surge

Sanders would bring common sense and sanity to a system rigged by big money for big money against America's middle class.

If anyone wants to believe the Republicans are for anyone but the wealthy you haven't been paying attention. Reagan's trickle gown economics is really trickle up economics and become the status quo. Tax breaks for the rich and big corprations, subsidies for big oil, etc. Meanwhile for the middle class extending the SS retirement age, cuts to medicare, a desire to cut public school funding and prioritize privatization of education so only wealthy kids get to learn, cutting planned parenthood funding because 97% of what the do is cancer screening and contreceptives for low income patients. They are at war with the working class.

Sanders is surging based on a strong message about money in politics, universal healthcare, education for all, income inequality, closing tax loopholes and trade policies designed to keep jobs in America.

He is not getting coverage because the big corporations that control the media are afraid of him, after all they benefit from the status quo.

Re: “The Sanders Surge

Sanders would bring anarchy to that which needs common sense and an ability to grow up.

Our nation has back-slid long enough.

Personal responsibility is about gone.

*Adults in government* has become the worst oxy-moron of all and a dangerous and sad fact.
