Re: “American Fabric

Why can't the President just issue some executive orders and outlaw the possession or display of the Confederate flag, or meetings where people espouse unpopular beliefs?

Re: “American Fabric

So now you're trying to pretend that your "accomplished nothing" comment was solely about helping blacks, when the very same sentence references the national debt, and before that you "pathetically" talk about terrorism and people supposedly laughing about dead soldiers.
Any thinking person realizes that the Republicans and Democrats of today have virtually nothing in common with those of the Civil War and the formation of the Klan -- if they did, the South wouldn't have switched from a heavy Democratic majority to a heavy Republican one.
And it's equally obvious to anyone who reads that Republicans have been the primary barrier to civil rights since the 1950s. And by the way, I didn't vote for Obama in 2012, either.
You also neglected to address other issues I cited, but considering that you apparently lack the honesty or reading comprehension skills to know even what you wrote, and that you continue to hide behind a pseudonym, I won't bother wasting more time on this comment.

Re: “American Fabric

How exactly does killing Bon Laden stop violence in the black community? Were they enraged over Bin laden?

Equal rights for gays reduces violence in the black community? Really?

Couldn't care less, no matter how it was expressed is the truth and you know it.

Poverty in America is at it's highest level since 1993 according to the federal government.

47,000,000 Americans are using food stamps, the highest level in history.

Black unemployment is twice the national average and has hardly improved since Obama took office.

Cry about the Civil War all you like, Republicans won it and freed slaves, democrats formed the KKK and fought Civil Rights.

Calling people names only makes you right when you are a blind party flunky. To the rest of the world, you are simply pathetic.

Re: “American Fabric

Exactly the sort of rant we'd expect from a racist hiding behind a pseudonym -- thanks for helping prove the point of the article.

"No one cares" Actually, Obama has repeatedly addressed that exact issue -- while he was "doing nothing" other than implementing health care, killing Osama bin Laden, granting gays equal rights, and a host of other things that you may agree or disagree with.

"Paul Dillon could care less when muslims kill American soldiers" You probably mean "couldn't care less" -- assuming you knew what you were talking about in the first place.

"he probably sits snickering with his lefty buddies about how servicemen deserve to die" That's just a moronic statement. Outside of the extreme RIGHT-wingers of the Westboro Baptist Church, no one I know thinks servicemen deserve to die.

"from his tone, he feels Mr. Beltran deserved to be murdered by two thugs" Equally moronic. Have someone read and explain it to you.

"That is the single stupidest observation ever made." Congratulations; you've surpassed it repeatedly here. And by the way, the economy is considerably better than when Obama took office.

But when it comes time to whine about virtually anything, gutless anonymous conservatives are first in line. Happy Fourth; don't blow off a limb with your fireworks.

Re: “American Fabric

Every day in America, a black man kills a black man between 10 and 12 times and Obama does not care in the least. No one cares, especially this writer. Paul Dillon could care less when muslims kill American soldiers, he probably sits snickering with his lefty buddies about how servicemen deserve to die. Paul is dead silent when people of color murder cops and from his tone, he feels Mr. Beltran deserved to be murdered by two thugs, his sin? Whiteness.

"Slavery is in our DNA"? ARE YOU KIDDING? That is the single stupidest observation ever made.

With all of the problems in the world, what kind of idiot wants to revisit 300 years ago and accept blame for something he had utterly no part in? An idiot who voted for an idiot president who has accomplished nothing in SEVEN years except a $10,000,000,000,000.00 increase in the national debt. Anything to distract from actual issues and problems.

Do you know what is worse than someone owning a slave in 1850? 30% unemployment in the black community TODAY, the highest murder rate per capita in the nation TODAY and poverty at the highest rate in decades. You cannot fix a single thing, you do not want to even try.

But when it comes time to whine about a flag or whine about how people did it wrong in 1719,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you are first in line.

Re: “After Charleston

Great essay. It's unfortunate so many turn a blind eye to the everyday racism that still occurs in this country. That's on us. And no it doesn't absolve you to say, "yeah, but blacks get all this special treatment and are obsessed with race." They deserve a lot more than that after being let down and pushed down time and again by generation after generation. Roof was no lone wolf - more like the tip of the spear.

Re: “After Charleston

I completely agree with the observation in this article that the victims' family members demonstrated incredible love and forgiveness. I wonder if it has occurred to the author and the left that both the victims, who were killed during a Wednesday night prayer meeting, and the victims' families were informed by and acting upon their Christian faith. How fairly have Christians been treated by the left, including columnists for the Inlander? Could it be that their animosity towards Christians is unfair and bigoted?

Re: “After Charleston

First and foremost, no American has legally "enslaved" another person LEGALLY more than 150 years.

No American alive today was a slave owner or slave and if anyone actually met a slave it was probably before WWII.

The Civil Rights acts of 1964 and 1965 were harshly opposed by DEMOCRATS. Democrats formed the KKK in response to the recognition of former slaves as rightful American citizens. Republicans had to create a Constitutional amendment in order to force democrats to recognize their fellow Americans.

The "brutal reconstruction" that democrats like Robert Herold curse in this article included civil rights for black Americans, the right to vote, own property and travel freely. What he and most elite white socialists oppose is people, especially people of color stepping off the welfare plantation and daring to move into their socialist social circles.

This is a singular racist act by an idiot who happens to be white. If he was Muslim, Robert could have cared less. A Muslim terrorist killing dozens on Ft. Hood was simply "work place violence". A Muslim terrorist killing an Army recruiter in Arkansas was "work place violence". Muslim terrorist chopping off heads in the northeast, executing policemen in New York City or attacking a policeman with a hatchet,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,workplace violence.

This horrible criminal act has nothing to do with the Civil War, the Confederate flag, "white entitlement", capitalism or any other distraction espoused by socialists. It is a racist act, from a deranged person who was being protected by the far left and their incessant demands that the rights of the mentally ill be respected at the expense of all others.

In all 50 states, no mentally ill people are willingly reported to the NICS system and denied the right to purchase or possess a firearm. Same goes for druggies and drunks, it is illegal to sell a firearm to a habitual drug user. Read a form 4473 sometime.

As with all terrible crimes, socialism tried to push their socialist agenda at the expense of the dead. Socialism seeks to deny the innocent of their right to own a firearm or defend themselves from the criminal. In the end, they will defend the criminals rights at the expense of the victim. Thanks socialism, for missing the point yet again.

Re: “Healing Forward

So much anger or downright hate, all caused by a self-serving, attention hungry woman. She was a liar and a good one, obviously. Is she doubting herself or her actions, no because people like her are always the victim, ready to excuse themselves of any of their poor choices. Instead we in Spokane doubt ourselves. "Are we fools? Are we gullible? Are we too nice?" The answer is no. Several local institutions (including the Inlander) dropped the ball on researching their employees and volunteers and I'm sure they have learned their lesson. But she was a conwoman plain and simple and like all con artists she was charismatic, minipulative and easy to believe. The shame here is all hers, not this community's. A little too nice is certainly not the worst thing that could be said about a any town.
