Re: “Why I'm With Her

P.S. I am an Independent, proud, American Conservative. I support the honest, real people out there, not the liars and idiots who ignore the truth.

Re: “Why I'm With Her

Clinton REFUSED multiple times the pleas from her Libyan Ambassador Stevens for protection, DIRECTLY CAUSING HIS AND 3 OTHER TRUE AMERICANS DEATHS. She is unfit to serve as Commander-in Chief. How can she possibly protect millions of us, since she will be so busy selling OUR WHITE HOUSE. Mary Lou Reed lies as badly as does Clinton. FACT: Billy Boy, the seamen artist, did NOT BALANCE THE BUDGET. Newt Gingrich and the Republicans did it. So called"Democrats" are ruinng our public schools, bankrupting every city and state they control, crime rates are higher thanks to "democratic" principles. The Democratic National Corruption Party is what George Orwell represented in his novel 1984. They want totalitarian control over our lives, a one-party system, and the continued destruction of our Christian and moral values. I pity those like Mary Lou Reed and her ilk, including the Inlander, which is a progressive, far left-wing publication.

Re: “Why I'm With Her

I place my hope in Mary Lou Reed's words that Clinton will provide strong, sane and sensible leadership in a world that some seem to want to swing out of control and create chaos.

Re: “Why I'm With Her

Same old regurgitated DNC HRC apologist talking points.

HRC was given a Senate seat and now the Party Oligarchy is giving her the Presidency as promised back in 2008 when she wasn't qualified to be President and she was GIVEN the position of Sec Of State as a conciliation prize.

If only the Democratic Party had run some real candidates in the primary.......

Re: “Growing Pains

I can't help but wonder whether our concept of change has changed. I think it must have if change is the only constant. But what about change has changed, and when did it change? When will change itself change again, and will that change how we plan for change? How can you plan for change that is changing?

Re: “Why I'm With Her

I think you mean "Ignore the facts" and "Hillary earned a lot of money at America's expense from her life of alleged public service."

Re: “Growing Pains

Reconsidering the badly needed bypass that is the NSC as a boulevard with timed lights is a catastrophically stupid idea until such a time that interconnected self-driving vehicles make surface street transport less unbearable.

Spokane has been in need of an fast-moving north-to-south route for decades and now more than ever as the city continues to choke out north-south arterial routes by eliminating lanes, ala Monroe.

Some of the population doesn't have the luxury of living and working in the urban core and for the rest of us, not having to spend sixty minutes plus twice a day in the arduous transit from north to south to north or vice versa would be a boon to our mental health, productivity and quality of life. Let's not forget that we live in a metropolitan region and the improvements to the city should not strictly favor Kendall Yards and the South Hill.

Additionally, the benefits of a fast moving bypass would also extend to lower vehicle particulate pollution, increased fuel economy for commuters, lower carbon emissions for all, less through traffic in residential areas, more pedestrian friendly neighborhoods, relief from/for congested north-south arterials across the city, and to throw in a bit of elitism, the ability not to have to traverse the rundown neighborhoods that every north-south arterial cuts through.

Each day I can choose a different route, West Central, North Division, or Hillyard, and I can see the same aimless, jobless, shirtless smoker on a tiny little bike looking around nervously. I'm actually convinced it's the same guy at this point.

So please, stop advocating for the option that appeals strictly to you and think about the benefits of getting heavy national and international truck traffic out of our city, letting commuters have some of their time back and lowering maintenance cost of streets in the urban core.

Re: “Good News, Bad News

In reality businesses don't pay taxes. If their costs increase, they raise the price of the good or service they sell. The consumer pays the increased cost. Some businesses sell products for which there are readily available substitutes. For example, if the cost of a restaurant meal gets too high, people will brown bag instead of buying lunch at a fast food restaurant. The fast food restaurant either finds ways to cut its costs and reduce its prices, or it goes out of business. If the restaurant must pay a high minimum wage, it can reduce its costs by mechanizing and reducing its labor force. Congratulations! You've just hurt the workers whom you were trying to help.

These concepts are basic microeconomics, and like basic arithmetic, they're not political or ideological. Hate it all you like, but it's how the economy works. Magical thinking won't change it, and meddling will have real consequences.

Re: “Good News, Bad News

So again, you must really hate any new change or changes that come your way...and you hate the very idea of treating humans like human beings.

Some policy makers have an ego and want thier buddy corp's to make more than perhaps 5% to 30% plus on profiteering.....don't get us wrong, we want and enjoy the fact the single proprierships , and or big corp's can and should make money....but dear god in heaven must it be at a fellow humans expense???????????????????????????????????????

Re: “Good News, Bad News

Let's connect some dots. If we implement policies that increase labor costs, eventually it's less expensive to mechanize and eliminate jobs. Businesses that decrease their costs will have a competitive advantage over those that don't. Another illustration of how policy makers actually hurt those whom they're trying to help by meddling with things they don't understand.
