Re: “The Contenders

Don't forget the measles aspect, either.

Here's an article from the NY Times earlier this month talking about how getting the measles can reduce the ability of the body to ward off other infections as well: http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/05/07/m…

Re: “The Contenders

@larrycebula:

Here's what Fagan said:
“Men and women are not equal,” he said. “Biologically, there are differences between men and women. Is a 150-pound woman (police officer) going to be able to control a 250-pound, out-of-control so-and-so?”

Re: “The Contenders

Easy to pick who you will and won't vote for. Money will be raised for some of the new candidates.

Re: “The Contenders

"Ben Krauss, an analyst with the city who said he's running because of Fagan's views on pay differences between men and women working in city government."

I hate to ask...but what are Fagan's views on this matter?

Re: “Promises and Payments

Thank God, someone finally created some shade for the Ag Center each winter. Oh, change that to thank you WW for keeping our Ag Center in your very large hotel's shadow all winter and running up the city's heating costs, icing up the sidewalks and blocking views.

Re: “The Collaborator

Murray is a die-hard liberal, but can still compromise, negotiate and succeed. And she's learned that you have to act in good faith by keeping your word and not insulting your opponents. I wonder how she managed to learn these lessons, which the President has not learned.

Re: “Promises and Payments

Well that money is getting tied up probably because they are trying figure out away to give themselves raises again..... and from the sounds of it I wouldn't deal with any people like you, who renig on a deal.

So let the contamination reach the water, let city council take more raises... whatever happened to being a man of your word?

Re: “Derailed

You forget to mention how this prick treats the hospital and rehabilitation staff. How about the verbal abuse that he doles out to the people that have to help his worthless ass. As if it's their fault that he got ran over by a train. What a waste that the taxpayers have to pay for such ignorance.

Re: “Promises and Payments

I like what WW has done. The hotel is ugly however. We should not be paying for his project.

Re: “Promises and Payments

I'm not exactly sure why it is a "Grand Hotel". It looks like it was designed by a former Soviet Union planner with worse than average skills.

Re: “Derailed

In 2014, 458 people were killed on Washington state highways. 37% of them were alcohol related. In total 1,981 people died from alcohol abuse in Washington state in 2014. Is spending your adult life as a drunk or druggie really news?

The real issue is that taxpayers have spent the last 20 years paying the bills for this particular drunk. now me mangled himself and taxpayers will have to pay the freight on him until he dies. This man squandered his entire adult life on drugs and alcohol and we are supposed to feel sorry for him?

As my buddy used to say, "Play stupid games, Win stupid prizes."

Re: “Derailed

"BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas says there have been nine deaths on Washington state's BNSF railways so far this year, including a 17-year-old girl killed last weekend in Western Washington."

To be fair, that girl wasn't riding -- she and her friends were on a railroad trestle that's used as a jumping-off point into a river. Her friends could outrun the train and get off the bridge, she didn't.

Re: “Whitman Privilege

So solve the problem with lack of economic diversity among students at Whitman by impoverishing Whitman professors by making them adjuncts? Now that's some deep thinking by an author addressing social and economic injustice. How would Whitman recruit faculty, especially faculty of color or working class faculty, to live in one of the least diverse parts of the country with lower paying jobs? How about tackling root issues like bloated administrations and the tweaking of the Whitman discount rate after the 2008 recession if you want to get to the root of the matter.
