Re: “Machines That Kill

I think the problem is two-fold, lousy, texting idiots driving cars as if they were the only people in the world and rude. They are complimented by idiots on bikes not watching where they are going, jumping from the sidewalks to the road, crossing against traffic and the lights, weaving between cars, pulling left into the roadway as cars approach to make sure we all know they have a bike and "rights".

Like most drivers, I pull left and give you room when I pass. There is no reason for you to pull into traffic, stand up and show your butt like some sort of baboon and hinder my passing. I know you have a bike, I own one too. Try riding like you "share the road" and get over yourself.

Re: “Machines That Kill

So glad you are okay. I also truly believe the growing populations of all our cities in this region are throwing more people on the road in every kind of vehicle plus feet. In my town there are more and more pedestrians getting run down in the road by cars -- bikes, there have been incidents but not so much. My biggest gripe is with people texting behind the wheel. More folks on the road + more folks with 'smartphones' is what scares me. BE SAFE PALS.

Re: “Full Circle

good stuff, it was a fun ride to watch and now i hope to see him coaching some where, maybe stoking those kids minds about the world outside of basketball, Instagram, and girls. Always liked that guy.

Re: “Do-It-Yourself War Stories

What a great book, I need to read it! I have a fascination with War era memoirs, right now I am in fact reading one by Uew Siemon-Netto called Triumph of the Absurd, what an interesting look into the affect the Vietnam war had on all the people involved. 1517legacy.com is his site, his book info is there.

The owners have done a exceptional job reinventing the establishment. I recommend all locals and travelers alike bring their business and patronage. The Globe has an inviting ambiance and a phenomenal drink/entree menu! - Chuck Simpson US Navy Retired, Los Angeles, Ca.

Re: “LEARNING TO LOVE A NEW HOMETOWN

I heard a stat a few days ago which was new to me; Spokane's student population number stands right behind Boston's. Now, if we can just figure out the way to keep more of them here after graduation...

Welcome. Dan.

Many a relationship has started in a bar after more than just two drinks. Some turn out alright.

Re: “Old, New and the Commodity of Seattle Cool

"There is a tension at the heart of indie culture between competing ideals and realities, on the one hand, an oppositional formation of outsiders that sees itself as the solution to an excessively homogenized, commercialized media, and on the other hand a form of expression that is itself commercial and that also serves to promote the interests of a class of sophisticated consumers."
