This is great news that Lori Kinnear is running for City Council.

Can't break what you never had Ms. Quintrall. The private sector has just as much if not more "waste" and "corruption," the lights are just a lot brighter when profits aren't the only yardstick!

Re: “Rachel Dolezal explains why "Shorty can't breathe either" is problematic

Should have been left to news reporters - who have the responsibility to interview key community players.
Sometimes the "better part of valor" is to "hold one's fire". Delbert Belton's death is tragic indeed. and hopefully his loss and the manner in which he died will be attributable to criminals regardless of color. Spokane must not allow itself to be divided, thusly SPOKANE CAN AND MUST BREATHE for its future.

Re: “Another feisty Spokane City Council meeting expected

I don't understand why this article quotes the anti-choice activist three times and repeats all of his claims without quoting any Planned Parenthood staff or aggrieved patients for a counter-perspective. Someone is clearly lying here. It can't be both ways at once.

This guy has every reason to misrepresent and downplay the conduct of anti-choicers in front of the clinic. Planned Parenthood, on the other hand, does not have an interest in describing the conflict if there isn't any because even mentioning aggressive protesters outside the clinic is likely to keep women in medical need away. Bringing up aggressive anti-choice protesters is clearly a measure of last resort for besieged Planned Parenthood staff.

Shame on "Sidewalk Advocates for Life" for lying about the legitimate safety concerns of this organization and the Inlander for re-printing their lies without question or counterpoint.

The real issue here is disparate enforcement by the Spokane Police Department.

Some kids wave posters in support of better working conditions at WalMart a block away from the entrance on Sprague for Black Friday and there are two cop cars and two Sheriff vehicles there before the event even starts to warn and intimidate them?

But when women are trying to take care of their own personal health care needs and are being flashed posters of bloody baby parts, threatened with hellfire and damnation, and having false information pressed upon them by zealots the police are nowhere to be found?

What a ridiculous misogynistic joke. I hope the women who are a part of the Spokane Police Department can agitate internally for more equal application of "service." With the driveway ordinance in place, hopefully now they will have no excuses left to not heed Planned Parenthood's calls.

Re: “The story of the purse where a toddler found a loaded gun in a Hayden Wal-Mart

If it wasn't for the darn purse lobby, we'd be able to regulate purses to prevent senseless purse deaths like this one.

One of the kids pled guilty. Get the facts straight. Someone has too much time on their hands trying to compare things in our area that have nothing to do with other things around the world like Ferguson and so on. Just let people be. Stop being a busy body neighbor.

Re: “The Hop! is closing but moving

Not to mention metal shows at The Hop are some of the most peaceful I've been to. And I go to a lot of shows. Any aggression or pent up anger is centralized and typically taken out by way of headbanging or going circles in the mosh pit (at your own risk). Hugs hello and hugs goodbye. It really is an experience for the soul.

Re: “The Hop! is closing but moving

Oh trust me. I have been security at the current place for nearly four years. We have gotten to know each artist/group and know what to expect as far as the crowds that are drawn. That is a huge part of keeping patrons safe, and the enjoyment level up. Mudd

Re: “Rachel Dolezal explains why "Shorty can't breathe either" is problematic

This is nothing but malarkey! The "I can't breathe" statement is used inappropriately at inappropriate time anyway. I garuntee you half of them fools don't even know the 'actual' meaning behind the statement. So if it is ok for them to use the statement inappropriately then this lady has every right to post this sign the same way!

Rachel: Shorty, a WW 2 veteran was beaten by two black teens and died of heart attack because of the beating, while these two teens continue to "breathe" and cost the taxpayers money to prosecute them! This is SUCH a shame that y'all should hang ur heads and ask for forgiveness! And then straighten up and fly right!

Re: “MB: Cancer in the Kettle Falls Five, rich getting richer, GOP debates

It's never mattered if the D's or the R's are in the White House. The rich always get richer. Now , it's just becoming more conspicuous. Doesn't everyone find it a bit odd that the congress people sho wup with minor net worth's is general but they come out millionaires?? I do not know one congress person who has not come out a millionaire in the the past 50 years which is saying a lot.

*correction* hoping that our safety just outside the doors of their venue is as important as it is while we are inside.

Re: “The Hop! is closing but moving

I am excited to see another business come along downtown, just hoping that the security will be on top of their game. There are already fights that happen downtown, but bring along hip hop and metal show crowds can also bring more tension and violence. It happens frequently at the knit too. So we will have to see if our safety outside the venue is held in the same regards out just oustide their doors.

No proof that Mr. Belton was murdered? One of his assailants pled guilty to the crime. To do that the assailant admitted to the charge.

Umm, no proof of murder? One of Shorty's assailants pled guilty. Which is an admission to the crime. Which definitive proof.

Re: “Mobius loses its space in March, but the Spokane Public Library has come to its rescue

I hope with a chance to renovate and start from scratch, some thought is put toward making an "accessible" science museum that all children want to visit and explore.
