Re: “Face to face with Spokane's CIA torture architect

Bruce Jessen is prosecutable under US and international law, whether he is an honest, nice and giving human being. It doesn't matter whether or not he is a US citizen, a father of a few children who attended District 81 schools, a psychologist, a member of the US Air Force, a CIA contratista, and an accomplice in torturer, all of which he is. He is prosecutable under US and international law.

And unlike this reporter, Bruce Jessen is a coward, hiding behind CIA secrecy agreements. I challenge Bruce Jessen to come forward and openly describe the role he, James Mitchell, Roger Aldrich and Randall Spivey played in the US crimes during the bloody US Iraq and Afghan fiascos.

(Spivey, former policy chief for SERE's parent organization JPRA, still runs CIA/DOD front organizations - including Center for Personal Protection and Security - out of the American Legion Building at Washington and Riverside in Spokane. Dial Mitchell Jessen Associates' former phone number and you will reach Spivey's operation @ 509-468-4128).

Yeah, a really nice guy who creates and believes in torture all while bilking the public for millions. The guy is evil.

Re: “Face to face with Spokane's CIA torture architect

Jacob Jones, I don't know if you received permission to take a photo of the home. Having been there myself, I'm pretty sure you were standing on private property when you took a photo of the house. That's considered trespassing if you took a photo on private property without permission. By the way, I know Bruce, and he's a very honest, giving, and nice man.

Re: “Ferguson: Calm down... for what?

We are not ruled by mob rule. Mob rules says we can hang anyone we want, regardless of what the truth may be. That is vigilante justice. So what you are telling me is that a Grand Jury found no fault with the officer's conduct, but you want to hang him anyway as some sort of vengeance for the actions of a street thug who had just robbed a store? Give me a break, people. That officer had the right to protect himself and he did. We have video confirming he robbed a store and physically assaulted the store owner. He reached for the officer's gun and the officer shot him. What is so difficult for some of you to understand? Put yourselves in the shoes of that officer and tell me what you would have done differently.

Re: “Gov. Inslee announces education agenda

So, let me get this straight. The governor and the state legislature abdicate their responsibility and barely escape the contempt of the state Supreme Court in the McCleary decision. And, they have no real, substantive plan in place to resolve the problem of funding education (as required by the state constitution). The people approved, through the constitutional and democratic initiative process, a class-size reduction initiative.

Of course, no one really knows where the money will come from, but the governor and legislature are now tasked with that.

But, now, the governor just unilaterally nullifies the efforts and will of the people of the state because "... we've decided here is that we cannot fully fund [the class size initiative] in this first biennium ..."

Maybe the Washington State Supreme Court needs to rethink the whole contempt thing and find both the legislature AND the governor in contempt.

The money is there. Cutting the pay of the top two tiers of management of the state agencies in half or more will render the bulk of the funds necessary, I'm sure. The salaries of those people are obscene and need to be brought back to a realistic level. What if those people quit? No big deal. They bring little value for the buck. We'll hire someone who will actually work for the salary provided.

Re: “In defense of Steven Moffat, Doctor Who's controversial showrunner

I think Moffat was a good writer, but that doesn't change the fact that he is a terrible Head Writer/Show Runner. His individual episodes are good, but the changes he has made to the show universe leave something to be desired. The angels were a good one off monster, but he has leaned on them too heavily and they are overused at this point. The technicolor daleks are an abomination, and introducing them was a dire mistake. Giving a companion clothing that is impossible to run in while keeping the show kid friendly was a bad move, even if it was somewhat fixed later. The TARDIS control room redesign between seasons 7 and 8 is very cold; I hate it with a passion and it fells more than a little stuck in the past.

The true atrocity though, is the 50th anniversary special. We were promised the Time War, we got rubber suit monsters. We were expected to swallow a very convenient amnesia on the part of doctors past, forgetting their involvement for for no particularly good reason. Speaking of doctors past, their token inclusion at the very end was frankly insulting; better to have genuinely included them or left them out entirely. An even more contrived excuse to include Rose Tyler (yes, RTD did it too. It was lame then, it was even lamer here) Worse than all of that though was the retcon to end all retcons, essentially invalidating invalidating everything that made the 9th doctor who he was. I really don't believe bringing Gallifrey back will make the show better, again it feels stuck in the past.

All of the above were bad strategic decisions in my opinion, but it was the retcon that completely turned me off on Doctor Who. I'll probably give Doctor Who another chance when Moffat's time comes to an end, assuming that end isn't cancellation, but for me Moffat ruined what had been a very good thing.

I believe it was Interlake School in the first episodes (not sure which number) and the large plant buildings on Magnesium.
