Re: “Caught in a Mosh

I thought you said rock was supposed to be dangerous when you were trashing the Eagles. The Caught in a Mosh story seemed pointless except to possibly try to get some street cred by pointing out that you were there getting your battle scars in the days of Circle Jerks and GBH. You should be old enough to know better. It sounds like you are only struggling to convince people (or more importantly yourself) of your relevance to the “scene”.

Re: “No Peaceful Easy Feeling

On trashing the Eagles, you came off as both pretentious and intolerant. You made it sound as if they planned to specifically play a show during your sacred Volume event. It’s none of your business how much their tickets cost and who buys them- those people probably aren’t interested in Volume anyway. It is not your place to decide when a band should hang it up and suggest their retirement funds are full enough. The Eagles will decide when they have enough money. They have been more successful than you will ever likely be and without your support either. You must not be familiar with the Eagles since you suggest they fail to be a dangerous rock band. They were never marketed as one- they were just country rock. Comparing them to the Sex Pistols and Ramones is simply ridiculous. Don’t forget that at least two veteran metal heavyweights, Zakk Wylde (BLS) and Kerry King (Slayer), actually like to listen to the Eagles and Elton John. Maybe they don’t pass your pretentious sniff test though.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, you wrote another article on rules to follow while moshing- wait.

Re: “Teacher Skip Day

And there are a lot of teachers in Spokane elementary schools that end up having to spend money out of their own pocket to buy the supplies they need for their classrooms! And why is it that a person is only allowed to watch 12 kids at a time, otherwise it must be a child care center? But a teacher is allowed to have 20-30 kids under her care alone in a classroom? That is just too much for one person

Re: “No Peaceful Easy Feeling

Most local bands are just plain aweful to listen to. The handful that are tolerable almost assuredly will not sell out our humble hometown arena 30 years from now.

I would have a hard time convincing 9 of my friends to go to Volume. I would have had friends fighting over an extra ticket to the Eagles had I had an extra.

We are entitled to our opinions. Mine is that the Eagle were worth every damn cent I paid, and that your opinion sucks.

Re: “No Peaceful Easy Feeling

Well Dan, judging from the comments, the People Have Spoken, and they seem to disagree with your rant.
But take heart, these are the same People who elected one Reagan & two (possibly three, if current trends continue) Bushes... and have made Fox the #1 rated cable news network in the country.
To quote the immortal words of Mojo Nixon: "Don Henley must die!"

Re: “Spokane sheriff: police militarization a "myth"

We are very lucky to have elected an individual like Ozzie, who t protects our rights and ambitions. The endless complaining from liberal loud mouths is a result of the fruits of our freedoms. But the good still out-weighs the bad

Re: “No Peaceful Easy Feeling

This is so off it makes me angry. How old are you? Let's see how nostalgic you are when you reach close to senior status and you hear one of your old favorite songs. You know, one of those songs you automatically know every word to and can vividly remember where you were when you first heard it? Carefree days, warm cozy nights; lots and lots of history goes along with those hits. And 3 hours of a concert with no warm up band? Pretty good for a bunch of old musicians.

Re: “No Peaceful Easy Feeling

Wow. Really went out on journalistic limb there, didn't you? I feel the same way about 99% of Harley owners these days. It used to be about blah, blah, blah. But now any idiot with a credit can go buy "cool" and blah, blah, blah. Same with the "dangerous" bands you mentioned. Sure they used to be about blah, blah, blah. Now? There pretty much subjects for hot topic t-shirts in an effort to make their purchasers seem some how in touch with a generation of music that's barely a half a generation newer than the band which you rail against. It's not like any of those bands had any integrity either. And the Lebowski reference? Talk about low hanging fruit. Then again no one cares if you go around hating a band the nobody's ever heard of in print. Don't like it? Don't listen. Still feel like you have to regurgitate a contrived opinion? Do it in the editorial section. Or the comments section, like I did. D. Lee

Re: “Put Kids First

Quality child care is important in many ways, there is TONS of research to back up this very fact. If we want kids to graduate high school, show lower instances of challenging behaviors, have lower arrest rates, fewer drug problems, spend fewer dollars on special education, and break the cycle of poverty- spending money in early learning is where it is at. The environments and interactions children have from birth-5 years old shapes the foundation of the person they will become for the rest of their life. Access to quality child care is what our country needs and will benefit from in so many different ways. Child care is a business, and by supporting early learning, you are also supporting the economy. Funding the Early Start Act is what we need!

Re: “Volume is Back!

Perhaps Volume can lease a portion of land like restoring the Natatorium Park with series of stages for people to see it all in one locale.

Re: “Teacher Skip Day

My understanding is that CVSD did not have a quorum to vote for or against the walkout, so to state that "they declined to join the strike" may imply something not entirely accurate?
