Re: “LaVerne Biel running for council

Laverne Biel has been involved in the east central Community and is a dedicated community leader that will make an excellent City Council representative that will listen to the members of the community and make decisions for the benefit of the community. I wholeheartedly support Laverne and as the former chair of the East central Neighborhood Council I can say that Laverne is a person that will listen to neighborhood concerns.

Re: “Why one tiny Lake Pend Oreille high school ditched hot lunches

Please continue to report what is happening in Clark Fork. Find out how much Mr Woodward makes a year and them ask him if he is interested in taking a paycut along with some other office staff. There can be cuts other than to our children. A majority of money from the levy will go West of Clark Fork and the problems will remain the same. Support the parents providing a hot lunch across the street from the school. Go Wampus Cats!!

By golly, selective tax cuts are outrageous! The only fair thing to do is cut them for everybody!

Re: “Lawmakers support police-friendly body cameras bill

If this language is left in the final Bill it will, for the first time ever in the Sate of Washington, allow law enforcement officers to intercept and record private phone conversations or place bugs in a place where private conversations are taking place. Washington law enforcement has attempted this in the past but it didn't get any where so it will be interesting to see if this flies.

Non-party intercept language in HB1917.

Lawmakers support police-friendly body cameras bill

The media and the public should take a careful look at the WASPC backed bill and to the exemptions to public disclosure outlined in the Bill...all very predictable.

Re: “Snag hit in mystery retailer deal

Spokane Crescent Building Red Tail Management Ryan Rubenkoenig along with Local Broker Bob Spooner (of Goodale and Barbieri Company) talks with (Urban Outfitters) seems to have "Hit a snag". You can't lease property that belongs to Spokane Downtown Daiquiri Factory ! It may be a mystery to others, but not a mystery that asking Spokane Courts for bonds to delay returning us our property and lease location that ends in 2021 will not be tolerated. Rogue Landlord's who do not follow the law will not be tolerated in Spokane. Be prepared to pay dearly for your conspiracy.. because Justice is Coming! If people only knew what I have to fight week in and week out.

Re: “MONDAY MORNING PLACEKICKER: Pangos' hair tweets, Zags clinch, Eags scuffle

Why do Whitworth teams get slighted by The Inlander? Over the course of the past decade, the Whitworth men's team has been the most successful basketball team in the Spokane area. They make Sweet 16, Elite 8 and even a Final 4 appearance in the national tournament. The least you could do is mention them. The last I checked, they are in the Inland Empire. Just so you don't have to look it up, they are currently 22-3 and won yet another NWC title.

Re: “Idaho’s Reverse Robin Hood: the worst kind of class warfare

I think you are totally missed what he is saying. An increased sales tax impacts the poor and middle class more than the rich because they are then paying a larger portion of their income to taxes. The other thing you are missing out on is that he clearly states it is taking from the poor and giving to the rich because once again their tax rate will go up to 6% from whatever rate they were paying (taking more money from them) and the rich get a tax cut from 7.4 to 6% (letting them keep more of their money ie. giving to them). Its not about lazy people who won't work or go to college, its about normal people on the street who you purchase your clothes and food from, educate your kids, pick up your trash and fix your roads, they will be taking less money home.

Re: “Idaho’s Reverse Robin Hood: the worst kind of class warfare

The biggest one that got me laughing was the "They’d eliminate the sales tax on groceries for everyone, but then increase the sales tax on everything else by one percent (a tax increase that would also disproportionately impact the poor and middle class)." As if rich people that have more money stop buying things!!! If anything the richest would be paying more in sales tax. Now are there more poor and middle class? Yes. But does that mean that they are being taxed unfairly because of the sales tax? No.

Re: “Idaho’s Reverse Robin Hood: the worst kind of class warfare

No what he is saying is that he doesn't want it to turn into a complete economic halt like Kansas, new jersey, Iowa, and now north Carolina. What do you know, you have to help others to get ahead. What a crazy concept. But I'm sure your parents who lived during the great depression and big government projects to help would think the same.

Re: “WW: Marijuana in Indian Country, overhaul of WA pot laws and smoking doobies in the White House

For Cancer patients, for kids suffering from Seizures, and for so many others, safe, legal, access to Medical Marijuana is a matter of life and death. Its critical that Marijuana be removed from Schedule 1 immediately. Please call the whitehouse comment line at (202) 456-1111 and ask that the President get that to happen, to protect the health and safety of Americans that need Medical Marijuana. Have everyone else you know call them too.

I'm a Scientist with a strong interest in Cancer research. The clinical evidence of the value of Marijuana as a life saving medicine is now so strong that the need to remove Marijuana from Schedule 1 has become a moral imperative. Google Medical Marijuana testimonials. Google Medical Marijuana Cancer Patient Testimonials.

This weekend over 3,000 Americans died, in pain, of Cancer. Today, tomorrow and every day after that, 1,500 more Americans will die, after suffering horribly, from it. Every single minute another American dies of Cancer. Every American Cancer patient deserves the right to have safe, legal, and economical access to Medical Marijuana. Every single one.

Americans who need Medical Marijuana shouldn't be used as "Political Footballs" Please call the Whitehouse comment line at (202) 456-1111 and ask that the President take immediate action to remove Marijuana from Schedule 1 so American Physicians in all 50 states can prescribe it.

Oncologists have know it for more than a quarter of a Century that Marijuana is a "wonder drug" for helping Cancer patients.

The American Society of Clinical Oncologists wants Marijuana removed from Schedule 1. So does the American Medical Association, the professional society of all Physicians. A strong majority of Americans want Physicians in all 50 states to be able to prescribe Medical Marijuana. So do their Physicians., Cancer patients can't wait.

The need to immediately, completely, legalize Marijuana throughout the world is one of the most pressing moral issues of our time, because of its medical benefits and because of the damage prohibition causes to America and to the world.

Complete legalization is critical -- its vital that there aren't "strings" or "hoops" that Cancer patients and others who need Medical Marijuana are forced to jump through.

"Charlottes web" is NOT the solution. Cancer patients and people who suffer from chronic pain need THC, not just CBD. The "Berkeley study", where 96% of stage 4 Cancer patients who had a wide variety of Cancers achieved remission, used high dose Medical Marijuana oil, 72% THC, 28% CBD, 1 gram/day (oral) over a 90 day course of treatment. It was a small study, and not placebo controlled, but those kinds of results are clearly remarkable, have been widely reported on in the press, and demand the need for immediate large scale clinical trials.

More and more present and former members of law enforcement agree about the need to end prohibition, and have formed a rapidly expanding group of current and former undercover cops, FBI, DEA, prosecutors and Judges, from all over the world, called

LEAP -- Law Enforcement Against Prohibition

because they've seen the damage prohibition causes to America and the world.

See http://www.leap.cc/

I'm a Scientist. Not a politician, not a cop.

But as a Scientist with a strong interest in Cancer research, I feel even more strongly about the need to ensure that no Cancer patient is denied it, because I'm so impressed with its benefits for Cancer patients.

I urge everyone reading this to PLEASE call and email the Attorney General, the press, Congress and the President today.

Medical Marijuana helps with Alzheimer's, Autism, Cancer, seizures, PTSD and chronic pain, and has helped many Americans, including many veterans, stop using Alcohol, and hard drugs, both legal and illegal ones.

Every minute an American dies of Cancer.

Every 19 minutes an American dies of a prescription drug overdose.

Many vets become addicted to prescription opiates and die from them.

NOBODY has ever died from smoking too much pot.

Cancer patients are seeing remarkable results using high dose Medical Marijuana oil, in many cases achieving complete remission, even for stage 4 cancers -- there are many excellent articles on the web, and videos on youtube with patient's personal stories about their experiences with it -- and every Cancer patient that uses Marijuana to ease their suffering benefits greatly from doing so.

It is immoral to leave Marijuana illegal, for anyone, for even a second longer.

For Cancer patients, its a matter of life and death.

Cancer patients can't wait.

Medical Marijuana has an unmatched safety profile, and for people who suffer from so many diseases, of so many kinds, its a medical miracle -- and the scientific evidence behind it is rock solid.

For Cancer patients, Medical Marijuana encourages apoptosis and autophagy of Cancer cells, while leaving normal cells untouched, is anti-angigogenic, anti-proliferative, and is anti-angiogenic.

Its also synergistic with chemotherapy and radiation therapy, making both more effective.

For many Cancer patients its meant the difference between life and death.

For everyone else, its a far safer alternative to Alcohol, and infinitely safer than Cigarettes.

Either take them off the market too, or legalize Marijuana right now.

2016 is too far away, Its too long to wait. Every year we lose more Americans to Cancer than died in WWII.

Between now and the 2016 elections, roughly 1 MILLION Americans will die of Cancer.

And Its a horrible way to die.

Re: “Court documents reveal new details in attack on transgender woman

I was Jacina's ride that night. When I showed up to Zola's she was lying in a pool of her own blood. Jacina was not drunk that night. The conflict was outside of Boots and that's where she spit in the man's face. Jacina then went back into the establishment and was soon after pursued by these men. Regardless of her spitting these men made a conscious decision to pursue, putting them into the wrong. Her nose is sideways. There is nothing else other than a foot that could have done that.

Re: “Idaho’s Reverse Robin Hood: the worst kind of class warfare

Wait... So you are saying that if everyone pays the same rate, and people who earn ten times as much as you will pay ten times as much taxes, this is taking from you to give to them? I also thought you may want to explain your comment that "The net impact of all of this fiddling with the tax code would be that the more money you make, the better off you would be." Are you actually saying that people who earn more shouldn't be able to have any more after paying taxes than someone who chooses not to work full time or chose not to go to college?

Re: “Snag hit in mystery retailer deal

The City should not be bowing to the demands of outside retailers who take money out of Spokane, it's just bad business. If they MUST have the square footage, lease it to them at market rates in five or ten year increments with the provision that if the retailer leaves Spokane, the property will be reclaimed and the building torn down at the corporations expense. And no tax breaks either.

Re: “Mel’s reopens in Wandermere, sans nursery

I love Mel's! I miss the old Mel"s. Old Mel's is where I always took my Family and Friends from out of town. They all fell in love with the old Mel's. So far I have only taken my Daughter to the new Mel's. The first thing she said to me after we entered Mel's is Mom it is not at all what I expected. She was so disappointed. She has in the past bought so many gifts from our old Mel's. I hope they will improve and maybe find a larger shop. I have heard many people are disappointed. I surely do not want Mel's to just close the doors. I still love Mel's and will continue to shop for special gifts......Karen Templeton
