Re: “The Hateful Eight

Another Tarantino comedy... cursing, killing, beautiful cinematography, crispy dialog and fun to watch acting by all.

Re: “More Than Laughs

I'm really excited that there is going to be a legitimate comedy club in the Spokane area, but I'm also a little bit nervous for the touring comedians. I have done comedy are all over the West Coast and Spokane is without a doubt, one of the worst places to do comedy - from a comedians perspective. Take for instance last year, when Jim Jefferies played the Bing. He was getting mercilessly heckled, and the security and staff at the theater did absolutely nothing. Friends of mine, other local comedians in the area were talking to him after his set, and he said that Spokane was arguably the worst start he has had on his entire tour. As someone who grew up in the area, I can say that a legitimate, no BS club is sorely needed in the area. There is a kind of talent, and not many good places to do it.

Re: “Interim police Chief Rick Dobrow to retire, former U.S. Attorney to take over

Very, very predictable. McDevitt as been Condon's behind the scenes Director of SPD since 2012 anyway so this is funny! Has McDevitt left his job with the Airport Board?

Re: “The Macy's Plan

While I agree that a grocery store IS needed downtown, the first floor footprint of this building is way too small.

Oddly, (love it or hate it), I could easily envision H&M occupying the lower levels with their sign highlighting the top of the building.

Re: “The Macy's Plan

I'm sure if the building becomes residential it would include a major update on the interior structure. What people are missing on this is that any vibrant downtown has people in it at most all hours. A middle-class residential multi-story would bring the life of human interaction to downtown and can't help but add to the success of the businesses there.

Re: “[UPDATED] Downtown police captain returns to work as new Intermodal Center office comes under scrutiny from employees

That's the ongoing SPD new Slogan "Spokane Police Department: inadequate and unsafe " that's how they have operated for years. They seem comfortable in their own shoes! #ChangeSpokane

Re: “The Macy's Plan

YES downtown does need a grocery store. to say it doesn't is very short sighted to the potential growth of our downtown area. There needs to be more condos, lofts and apartments downtown to help bring more people to the downtown area. It is what will help keep downtown vibrant with more people walking around to shop and go to restaurants. To Likitmtrs your point of driving to Fred Meyer's is the exact point in why there needs to be a grocery store downtown so residents at current and future apartments/condos don't have to drive from the downtown area it'll be conveniently in their neighborhood. The goal is to make people want to walk and explore around downtown not drive away from it.

Re: “The Macy's Plan

While I don't think a grocery store would be the best choice downtown, a Target might work. It wouldn't be my first choice, but it's an anchor store so I can see why they might want it. The Macy's building is gorgeous, it's just been left ugly inside for a long time by Macy's and The Bon before it and needs updating. Blowing out a floor is a great idea and would give some high ceilings and improve the property immensely. Whatever they do, I hope they DO NOT destroy the building. It's been there a long time and it's beautiful. It's part of Spokane's history and should not be destroyed.

Re: “The Macy's Plan

#1. Downtown doesn't need a grocery store or a Target. I live downtown and I would rather drive to Fred Meyer's on Freya where I can park for free. #2. The Macy's building is ugly and has low ceilings - who would want to live there? in a creepy, smelly building #3. Tear the building down or turn it into a mental hospital to get all of the crazies off of the streets.

Re: “WA Supreme Court strikes down Community Bill of Rights; Envision Spokane not giving up

"Specifically, the court determined that the provision granting the Spokane River legal rights could adversely affect Spokane County and Avista, two plaintiffs in the case that use the river."

EXACTLY. What about the river? Does it just exist for a private corporations to use and profit off of?
Women didn't used to have legal rights either. They just existed for their husband's private pleasure and free labor.

Until we recognize equal legal standing of the rights of ecosystems to exist and flourish we will continue to slowly pollute and consume ourselves off the face of the earth.

As long as private profits for a few are given greater legal privileges than the health and well being of the many we are doomed.

Re: “Are The Parties Over?

The parties aren't over... they have just changed over time like everything else.

Progressives ( Socialist Democrats ) hijacked the Democrat party long ago, Bernie is just more honest about his Marxist beliefs than most Progressive Caucus members who shy away out of fear of not getting elected and hide behind a "Democrat " label.

Trump is not the Republican party, he is a opportunist populist and would run under any label necessary at the time to win.

Communists never give up they are like Cancer.

Re: “I Saw You

To enough already: we mostly ask because out company wants us to make conversation. I like to ask different questions because can you imagine asking "How are you?" 500 times a week? Ugh. Boring. You can always say "I'm not sure." Or "I don't know." to any of the invasive questions. Most cashiers will get the hint that you don't want to talk. I'm sorry to hear about your mother.

Re: “Blind Faith

We love the option to read the blind over our cell phones by calling Harry directly ... We have not read yet but Bird gave us the first chapters, and she said even if we have five minutes while waiting in the yard for a ride to come, that okay just give a call and then pick up where left off for next time ... like someone else was doing ... So, we keep that paper in the car. Then, we'll stop by again to pick up the next chapters ... great ! thanx (but volunteers are volunteering to read what Harry wants , that helps him, not something else they prefer)
