If you’re in the Valley and not going to the unbelievably hot lounge at Mirabeau Park Hotel, this is your next-best bet. Plenty of space to dance, and the fish tanks magically transform into a mood-inducer after a few shots off the cheap wells. (TLM)

If you’re bored at Litz’s, there’s something wrong with you. A favorite hangout of Gonzaga students, Litz’s boasts an outdoor sand volleyball court, pool tables, arcade games, shuffleboard, beer pong, karaoke, trivia and other fun activities. There’s always some sort of drink special and the pub food is made from scratch. Try the sweet potato fries with gorgonzola. (July 2013)

Northern Quest has undergone a massive expansion — justifiably changing its name from "Casino" to "Resort and Casino." All the booze and buffets and blackjack you'd expect from a casino with added destination amenities, it's daunting how much new stuff is there).

The chic open space of one of Spokane's greatest nightspots is bringing in a diverse clientele of drinkers, dancers and music lovers. The juxtaposition of the sleek glass neon-green bar, exposed brick walls and half-court basketball hoop makes the venue all-at-once classy and laid-back. Enjoy a signature Dry Fly martini, a late-night menu of Angus beef sliders and spicy pork wings, or simply kick back with a beer. (July 2013)

The Plantation is where young hicks go to party. The all-wood bar gets packed to the brim with Wrangler-donning young folk who square dance the night away, drinking pitches of pink mystery-booze called the “Plantation Special” on Thursdays. Even if you’re sans cowboy boots, you should expose yourself to the Plant immediately. (TH)

They even have little ones put into the walls next to the tables. Really. They’ve also developed quite the menu, like their Irish Nachos, which have waffle fries instead of tortilla chips. (July 2011)

The patio of Trinity is practically on City Beach, offering picturesque views of Lake Pend Oreille. No room outdoors? No worries. The entire back wall is made of glass to allow a view from any seat. The menu, featuring choices like steamed mussels, filet mignon and Portobello mushroom ravioli, is complemented by the extensive wine list. (July 2013)

Most days of the week, The ZZU is like any other college bar. But on Tuesdays, it morphs into a frenzy of karaoke, tacos and — get this — $0.50 beers. Skip laundry this week and put your quarters to a more respectable use. (Also, Queen is never a good karaoke choice. Just sayin’.) (TH)
