Esteemed for delicious frozen yogurt, Ben's leaves room for pleasing experiences and a sensation for the taste buds. Multiple dessert flavors change periodically so as not to be so vanilla. Also check it out for lunch and dessert. The wraps are huge, they have fresh ingredients and they taste way better than the ones from a certain sandwich chain we all know. (June 2012)

Brain Freeze has been making ice cream in Spokane Valley for local restaurants and ice cream shops for more than a decade, but now the company has its own shop in Kendall Yards. Along with an array of ice cream flavors — maple bacon, avocado, chipotle chocolate, Cakey Doe, salted caramel and more — the shop also offers espresso drinks and fresh-made sandwiches. (May 2014)

Known for their in-house roasted coffee, Calypsos is often overlooked as an eatery. But the truth is that the coffeehouse serves an awesome sandwich alongside your Americano. A veggie-friendly favorite combines hummus and a pile of fresh sprouts, green peppers and tomatoes. Meat lovers will enjoy a number of grilled paninis. Try a salad, sample the soup of the day, and make sure to finish your meal off with a scoop of Calypsos' soft-serve ice cream (another often-forgotten facet of the coffee shop's menu). (March 2013)

The walls are embellished with shiny surfboards, and beach towel-esque wall panels are strewn with actual flip-flops at Did’s, which makes no secret about appealing to “the perpetual surfer in all of us.” Choose from 12 different froyo flavors (40 cents per ounce), shave ice or bubble tea before lining up to order pizza, teriyaki plates, salads or calzones, which force even college dudes from Gonzaga to leave with to-go boxes. Beer and cocktails are also available. (July 2013)

As Spokane’s original frozen yogurt shop, Didier’s has been doing the froyo thing for over 25 years. In addition to the frozen treats, you can also pick up a burger or other lunch items at this mom-and-pop operation located near Whitworth in north Spokane. (July 2013)

Cheaper than chain ice cream shops and scooping up servings of the frozen goodness bigger than your head (believe it or not, that’s only a slight overstatement), this little red-and-white-striped building is a favorite in the West Central neighborhood. Decorated with vintage toys, kids love looking around Doyle’s, finding a new toy each time they come in, while the masters behind the counter artfully create the best treats. The smell of the homemade waffle cones will draw you in and the taste of the ice cream will keep you coming back. (September 2012)

Homemade gelato and pizza, that’s a combo fine enough to make any Italian say, “Mamma mia.” That’s what makes this worth the trek out to Spirit Lake to load up on delicacies derived from pizza dough, sauce and sausage all made from scratch. The pizza is delicious, but the best part is the authentic Italian dessert available before or after dinner, or both. Fourth And Main offers around 75 flavors of gelato and 20 sorbets, capable of satisfying any sweet tooth. (October 2012)

Red velvet, mountain blackberry, cheesecake, pumpkin, Nutella, toasted marshmallow, Georgia peach, salted caramel, pistachio — is your mouth watering yet? Because that’s not even close to all the rotating flavors found at Froyo Earth’s four Spokane-area stores. Factor in the abundance of toppings and it’s clear why Inlander readers voted them their favorite froyo shop in the annual Best Of poll. (July 2013)
