The bishop is absolutely incorrect. Sexual abuse by Catholic priests is not over. It is not history. Victims around the world continue to report abuse. There are cases of abuses reported which took place up until last year. And, if the bishop understood sexual abuse, he would know that victims of sexual abuse typically take decades to report the abuse (for reasons which make perfect sense if one understands the impact of abuse). Clergy abuse victims will continue to come forward for decades. And, the protection of abusive priests still continues in many ways. And, very few who have covered up have been held accountable. Justice has not been reached for these crimes. The bishop doesn´t seem to grasp the seriousness of the crimes committed and the massive damage done, to victims and to the church´s credibility. The bishop is in a dream world, or he is uninformed, or he is simply not telling the truth. None of those choices are acceptable.
