Thanks for this article. As a "spiritual but not religious" person, I too found the Christian church of my childhood lacking, and I left it in stages. Personally, I´ve always felt connected to God, but I can understand why other people go in the opposite direction. We all have our own path to follow, and I admire atheists who are willing to grapple with their beliefs in spite of what the dominant culture tells them. We need all people to live life as their best, authentic selves, and not "hide their light under a bushel" in order to fit in.
