If you want to help us preserve Palisades, please join us on facebook--Palisades Park Spokane. If you want to join our organization and help out, do so through our website palisadesnw.com.
The reason Spokane is special is because of our parks. The land in Indian Canyon was originally donated to the city to PRESERVE it. We have the golf course and the park. It is one of the city´s treasures. There´s all kinds of land around the park to develop--why steal Palisades from us? Spokane residents, if you let it go, it will be sold to wealthy developers and huge, sprawling mansions will be built along the cliff. Only the ones who can afford it will be able to experience the beauty of the wildlife, basalt columns, natural history, and stunning views of Spokane. It will be closed off to the very residents who were meant to have and enjoy it for perpetuity. This is, basically, your inheritance and it could get sold away from you. As it is now, volunteers maintain Palisades because we LOVE it and find it so important to save and preserve. The city does very little, so the cost of keeping it open is a mute point. PLEASE develop other land and leave our inheritance alone for our children and grandchildren.
