Re: “Unnatural Growths

And if the city doesn’t want to annex Palisades Park?
“Then sell it,” French says.
I take this to mean if the city does not wish to ignore the fact that Palisades Park is classified as a "Conservation Area" and plant lawn, water it and mow it, the park should be sold for development. The logic of this thinking absolutely escapes me and our many neighbors who have contributed hundreds of voluteer hours to ensure this park can be safely enjoyed by ALL residents of the city of Spokane and Spokane County. Our concern in including this area in the UGA, is first, that population studies indicate that there is at present enough area to accomodate growth for 20 yrs. Inclusion of the park will put pressure on the wildlife that use this corridor for passage from the Spokane River through Riverside State Park and into Palisades. Our urban population needs open undeveloped spaces to relax, recreate and enjoy the abundant wildlife, flora and fauna that Palisades showers them with. In our politcally bombastic society, let us try to find ways to work with our various government bodies instead of the strange retoric of Al French.
