First off I want to start with a few facts. A) Cyrus O´Leary´s based on their website has won the award for Cherry Cheesecake 3 years running now, 2009-2012. Not just a few in the last decaded as the author so blandly puts it. B) I have no idea who Luke Bumgarten is, but compared to the judges at the pie competitions they are a nobody. These judges are professional food tasters whose jobs are to critique food everyday of the week. I´d like to go on and critique the comments made by Baumgarten, he said "the sweetness overpowered the taste" I don´t know about you but I don´t buy a cherry cheesecake looking for something tasting more savory than sweet. Next "to get to them (cherries), you had to smiw through a lot of sugary red sauce" I´m sorry again but looking at all the photos, all the pies had a sugary red sauce on the cherries. Some of them looked like they were just stepped on (Just American Desserts), some only had 4 on the whole pie (White Box). the crust on the other pies leaves something to be desired since there isn´t much. White boxes pies is very unappealing after looking at the thickness of the cheesecake, and seeing that you have to wade through what 2 inches of whipped topping before even hitting the cherry sauce. The "New York Style" of Spokane Cheesecake actually does look like someone from New York just punched the top of the pie look at the dip in the top. I did some research and none of the other pies have ever won an award I say let´s try this again, next time have a true professional do the taste testing. I agree with Zyworski Cyrus has the much better cost, I think the presentation is much more appealing (you know what they say, you first eat with your eyes and looking at the rest I would have vomited) On a quick side not I love how he mentions one of the taste testers loves cheesecake so much he doesn´t want if F---d up with cherries and crap like that. Does anyone else see an issue with having that guy involved at all, as well as to why the one cheesecake here without cherries was also 1% lower than the "winning" (in their minds) cheesecake? And what is that one piece of white crap on top of the Just American Desserts Pie, can anyone tell me?
