Re: “The Cost of Reform

First...Gutenberg invented movable type (each letter on its own block so you could arrange them how you wanted) and not the printing press. He did it to put people out of work--the monks who then made their coin by hand-copying books.
Now for modern times...
Proposition 1 is similar enough to Scott Walker´s reform bill it´s probably also unconstitutional.
Proposition 2 is unaffordable in this economic climate, and the IEA is right: the reason it´s hard forr Idaho to attract and retain quality teachers is the low pay over here. Also, my experience with merit bonuses in the private sector is the people controllong them do everything they can to nott pay them.
Proposition 3 is the death of Idaho public education. Let´s issue easy access to answers.com´ ChaCha and all the other websites kids use to get answers with no effort, and see how long it takes college admissions officers to think, "Idaho HS diploma? Pass me the trash can please." Private schools won´t have this problem. When a private school diploma gets you into 4 year college and a public school sheepskin gets you into barber college, the R´s will call for getting rid of public schools.
