You can´t fix brain dead.I honestly never regret missing out on University.
We as a country have a pretty broken fire service to begin with. Fire call volumes are down drastically (Spokane is something of an oddity, they seem to have more fires than some cities here in the west), with 90% or more of many large dept.´s run volume being medical related, but we are still spending inordinate sums of money on fire apparatus, and responding to calls like they´re all fires. Maybe if you clowns managing the outfit wouldn´t send a freakin´ engine to every medical call (to mistreat the AMR workers and do nothing, by the way...talk to the ambulance crews some time, it´s pretty depressing how our ´heroes´ comport themselves), you could save on your fuel and maintenance and not lay off your guys. You´d be much more benefited to send a lighter QRU. A firefighter or two on an SUV with a jump kit and some basic rescue gear, maybe even a gas monitor. Unless the patient is on fire, there´s no reason to have an engine there. Leave the engineer at the station in case you need to have the engine roll somewhere or run on a fire.Heck, firemen don´t even LIKE doing EMS. They only do it so they can ride big red and pretend they´re in 1970´s Chicago.
