Re: “The MAC board votes to fire the museum's executive director...again

No, the MAC is not private, it is the Eastern Washington Historical Society, a state agency. It is grossly underfunded, however, so they do a lot of fundraising as well.

"How can a taxpayer opt out of paying taxes for "The Arts" in Spokane?"

You can get involved in the political process and convince 51% of people that public support for the arts is a bad thing and elect anti-art candidates. Good luck with that. Or, Idaho.

"He ran off to join the enemy and then aided them in killing his fellow soldiers."

What? Where are you reading that?

Re: “Captive Audience

Normal, the council is elected. They do represent the views of the community, it is you who do not.

Re: “Manufacturing Fear

This is the most important piece I have ever read in the Inlander. There is a bright, direct line between the over-the-top rhetoric of people like Shea (and some of the commenters here) and sometimes deadly right-wing terrorism that takes place in the inland northwest. Shaun Vestal had a great piece in the Spokesman a few months back making similar points.
