I am astounded that anyone is surprised by this backlash. I agree that the sexist and lewd comments are unnecessary, but not surprised by them at all. She personally attacked and disrespected the school, the city, and an entire fan base, with no credibility in her writing. As a journalist, I would expect that you would know a response like this is the most probable outcome. To add on, she still had an opportunity to look like the bigger person and apologize for her article, but instead defended it and made herself to be the victim. You don't poke a bear and expect for the bear to poke you back, you poke a bear and expect to be mauled. These are the same expectations a writer and journalist should know when releasing an article personally attacking a community of prideful fans. It is unfortunate that the bear mauled Megan, but I do not feel sorry for her, since she was holding the stick.
