Having an insurance policy that covers contraception makes sense. If you don't want to use that coverage, you don't have to. They are used to correct hormone imbalances, to stop heavy and or prolonged menstrual cycles, and to alleviate symptoms of cramping and PMS.
If the Republicans could go back to their 1958 platform and came up with sane individuals to run, more people might be willing to give them another chance. As it is, it's the party of greed, no empathy, wealthy centric policies, and demonization of anyone who has a different view point, that turn people off. It's also become a perverse ideological nightmare, that uses religion to demonize the poor, LGBT's, seniors, military personnel, people of other religions or cultures, people of other ethnic groups, unwed mothers, women, and anyone needing birth control or an abortion. Until the parties platform becomes more mainstream, they will continue to have problems.
