BEST LOCAL THEATER PRODUCTION OF THE PAST YEAR - Camelot

It turns out there are few things Inland Northwest audiences love more than a great big Lerner and Loewe musical, especially a Lerner and Loewe musical with jousting, swordfights and fabulous headdresses. In this, the Coeur d'Alene Summer Theater production of Camelot did not disappoint. Based on The Once and Future King by T.H. White, Camelot chronicles the love triangle of King Arthur, Guinevere and Sir Lancelot through such songs as "The Lusty Month of May" and "If Ever I Would Leave You." Reviews were mixed as to whether the mingled comic and tragic elements worked in the CDA Summer Theater production, but everyone agreed that Kelly Quinnett was astonishing in her role as Guinevere. All in all, this story about the rise and fall of a seemingly perfect kingdom resonated with area audiences enough to win this category nearly six months after its run.

2nd: Love Letters, with Patty Duke
