Best Appetizers

by Mike Corrigan

BEST APPETIZERS - The Onion - An appetizer has the potential to upstage all other elements of the dining experience. I've seen it happen. And whether it's some outlandishly creative construction of exotic ingredients and flamboyant presentation or just a pile of French fries and a tub of creamy, tangy tartar sauce, most restaurants worth their MSG know that the appetizer section of the menu is an important -- if not mandatory -- first stop for many diners. The winners in this category came on strong due in part to a reliance on some of the most popular selections-- fried mozzarella sticks, fried onion rings and breaded onion blooms and, of course, yummy French fries. Who needs an entree?
