Bomb the Music Industry! may just be my new favorite band. Scrambles was released nearly a year ago, but I only just came across it recently — and I just can’t get enough of this freaking album. Apparently recorded on a budget of $50, Scrambles combines lighthearted, clever commentary and narrative with the exuberance of garage rock, the brashness of hardcore punk and the fun, brassy energy of ska.

It’s kinda like if Choking Victim ate Harvey Danger and the Thermals. Scrambles blazes through 13 tracks and utilizes nearly as many musicians — on every instrument from drum machines to trombone, Wurlitzer to Game Boy. Vocalist Jeff Rosenstock sings with honesty and keen humor — randomly moving from songs about employment to songs about whiskey. This record is fun, tight and absolutely insane.
