For almost 16 years, guests have left the White House Grill satisfied, and smelling like garlic. Manager Kathy Kmiees has been there for 15 of those years and attributes the restaurant’s long-standing success to “consistent food, good service and good prices.”

Consistency also extends to other aspects of the restaurant. Besides the management, the menu has changed very little over time. Best sellers such as the souvlaki lamb kebabs ($14), curried chicken ravioli ($16) and baklava ($3.50) grace the plates of many a regular, as well as their pomegranate lemon drop ($8.50) and their own house red wine ($20/bottle to go, $28 in house), made by Timber Rock Winery to complement their garlicky fare.

The food draws the customers, and it’s the customers who keep Kmiees going.

“It’s a lot of fun when you’re at work. We’ve got dedicated regulars, so it feels more like hanging out with friends.”
