It’s hard to believe. Less than three years ago, South Perry Pizza became the first full-service dinner restaurant in the neighborhood, spearheading its transformation into a destination spot. From the minimalist interior to a menu that covers the basics, simplicity is their mantra. And it works.

Start with the popular bleu salad ($5), topped with cheese, grapes and candied walnuts, or flatbread ($8), served with Beecher’s cheese curds and house seasoning. Classic pies such as the house pizza ($14) — which features pepperoni, mushrooms, sausage and caramelized onions — satisfy the traditionalists, while the mascarpone-based prosciutto pizza ($14) is more reminiscent of its European counterparts.

Market season brings a heavy rotation of specials, and the most unlikely produce finds its way onto a pie and onto guests’ plates (think peaches and pears). A new, more local gluten-free crust is in the works, and warmer weather brings concerts and beer specials on the patio.
