ALBUM

When word of the indie supergroup Divine Fits started spreading, it didn’t even need an album to generate hype or Twitter followers. Now that it’s released A Thing Called Divine Fits, fans finally have something to drool over. All synth-y and sometimes a little frantic, Wolf Parade’s Dan Boeckner, Spoon’s Britt Daniel and New Bomb Turks’ Sam Brown made some addictive music on this record. It’ll remind you of each of their bands while still feeling completely new.

BEER

Red_Hook_WIT.jpgSoon, the leaves will start turning and so will the beer labels. It’s coming quick, people. Before every brew out there is a pumpkin something-or-other, try Red Hook's Wit. Technically part of its summer series, this sweet (but not too sweet), gingery (but not too gingery) wheat beer is subtle without being boring. It’ll help you transition into the stout and porter days of winter, pairing perfectly with the last of the barbecue food or the first of the soups and apple cobblers.

APP

Square_Logo_Portrait.jpgIt’s not that you need to buy a latte without swiping your debit card, but you’ll want to. The Square app lets you store credit card information and pay at participating businesses using just your phone. Open the app, order and say your name at the register. Add a tip if you want. It’s quick and easy to use and it’s popping up more around Spokane. The app lists all local places that use it, but here’s a taste: Method Juice Cafe, Coeur Coffeehouse, Alpine Bistro, Cannon Coffee and Cone, Iron Goat Brewing.
