The Countdown Begins

Jen Forsyth

This time of year, snow starts to take over my life. Every dollar is allocated for my season pass, new skis, new outerwear and ski movie tickets. The rest gets stashed in my road trip fund for chasing storms this winter. Every thought is spent dreaming of powder days and, as always, the wonderment of what the upcoming season will bring.

We always know that ski season means seeing our winter friends, good times, lots of laughs and hopefully many powder turns. How many powder turns is unknown until the snow starts to fall. Until the uncertainty ends, we hope you’ll share in some stoke with us through Snowlander and all its offerings; this publication, social media outlets, the upcoming Snowlander EXPO, ski movie premiers, ski swaps, shopping at local ski shops and giving a high five to your winter friends when you see them for the first time this fall.

Last season was epic even to those who use the word sparingly. We had more snow than most other places in the world, and believe me it did not go unnoticed. Luckily, I was able to experience winter in many locations. I skipped some warm and wet stuff here for 14 inches of fresh at Whitefish Mountain Resort on a birthday bender in January. In February, I skied Big Sky Mountain Resort on a bluebird powder day after a good dusting. And I even managed to cross off a bucket-list item while skiing at Canyons Resort in Utah: two dumping days, skiing aspen groves in fresh, bottomless powder. I’m a lucky gal!

But I’m happiest here in the Inland Northwest, skiing some of the best terrain with the happiest locals around. We’re all lucky to be Snowlanders!
