SPORTS | EWU's Almost Comeback

Mike Bookey

By halftime of Saturday’s FCS semifinal game in Cheney, it seemed like the Eastern Washington Eagles might as well pack it in. They were down 35-0 in a half during which Sam Houston State did everything right and EWU, well, not so much. Whatever sort of spinach the Eagles ate at halftime, they should can it and put it on the shelves because they came out of the tunnel on fire, tallying 42 points. In the end, it wasn’t enough — they fell 45-42 — but the comeback was nevertheless impressive. Just look at the numbers.
