More Rocking for Tots -- The tots are certainly receiving a lot of rocking this week -- and one heck of a lot of toys as well. In addition to the Rock for Tots benefit show at the Met this Friday night, there will be a similarly philanthropic showcase raging -- albeit on a slightly smaller scale -- at the Blvd. (333 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.) on Monday night featuring local band Kevin and local ska-punk faves, 10 Minutes Down. All proceeds from the show will go to the Toys for Tots Foundation.

Radio On! -- Remember when we reported last week that Spokane's own community radio station Thin Air Radio was getting a new translator frequency that would increase its local reception coverage from "spotty" to "just about everywhere"? Well, it's happened. If you've had trouble before picking up the KYRS signal at 95.3 FM, simply tune your dial down to 92.3 FM and start enjoying all the cool, locally produced music, news and current events programming that Thin Air Radio has to offer loud and clear and commercial-free. Unless you're living in a reinforced steel and concrete bunker, you should get it. Uptown, downtown, Browne's, Lower South Hill, Valley -- it's there. Like now. Like wow.

Ming Wah Update -- Just like the Terminator, the Ming Wah Chinese Restaurant will be back. Very soon. Stay tuned.

Big Easy Break -- That which has been so bursting with promise has recently become strangely void. We speak of the live music schedule at the Big Easy Concert House. While those weekend dance club nights are surely keeping the massive downtown venue well buoyed, the distinct lack of anything resembling a full live music schedule (the live music-spiked New Year's Eve bash and a local musician showcase on the 28th notwithstanding) is cause for pause. It's a "concert house," after all. Is this a mere holiday season-inspired lull in the action? Or a trend?
