by Inlander Staff & r & Pathos R.I.P. & r & Spokane's extreme music scene will take a hit this Friday night when Pathos, a five-piece whose brutal, technical mesh of death and black metal has assailed the ears of Spokane since 1999, will play its last show. The group (Owen Rundquist, Abe Kenney, Nathan Humphrey, Jason Griffith and Cameron Olson) received critical acclaim for its 2003 release Perdition Splits the Skies and gained legions of fans after a series of West Coast and Midwest tours. Pathos is disbanding to pursue other musical and educational opportunities, but not before giving fans one final chance to hear them live (at the B-Side with California bands Winterthrall and Death Evokation and fellow locals Rutah).

Of Birds and Benefits & r & Local newspaper The Finger's one-year anniversary is on the horizon, and no one is more freaked out by that than the people who write it. To celebrate, they're throwing a live-music benefit bash this Saturday night at the B-Side with locals Belt of Vapor, High Holies, Freetime Synthetic, Amilayze and Flee the Century -- starts at 9 pm, and all door money collected will go to the Finger.

Who Do We Appreciate? & r & Speaking of benefits, there will be one with a little reggae flava on that very same Saturday night at the Blue Spark starting at around 9:30 pm. There's a $5 cover, with all door money going to benefit local activist groups & lt;a href="http://www.stoptheclock.org" & Stop the Clock & lt;/a & and the Radical Cheerleaders.

Hey, Good Lookin' & r & According to folks who were there, last Sunday night's Hank Williams III show at Fat Tuesday's was blistering good. "If you missed it," says Spokane Underground webmaster Wipson Chayns, "you missed a piece of Spokane history. It was packed to the gills with fans as young as 8 and as old as 80." For pix, go to Chayns' & lt;a href="http://spokane.undergroundcity.net" & Web site & lt;/a & . It's fun.
