Pig Out Picks

Inlander Staff
by Inlander Staff & r & & r & THURSDAY & r & Big Red Barn -- 3 pm & r & Old-guy bluegrass with a hint of soul. (City Hall Stage)

FRIDAY & r & Dan Maher -- Noon & r & The host of the Inland Folk show on KPBX plays just the kind of music you'd expect him to. (City Hall Stage)

Vax Lavala -- 2 pm & r & The Clocktower Stage should feel familiar to Vax Lavala. It's where their operatic classic rock scored them the runner-up position in this year's BOBfest. They won the RAWK Final Four title outright earlier in the year. (Clocktower Stage)

Seaweed Jack -- 6:30 pm & r & The local pirate rockers, whom scene experts named one of the five most buzzworthy bands of the year in our May local music issue, are fresh off a regional tour and a write-up in the respected webzine, Seattlest. (City Hall Stage)

The Clumsy Lovers -- 8 pm & r & The B.C.-based sextet is a favorite among jam fans for their upbeat, good-time mix of roots genres from bluegrass to Celtic reels. (City Hall Stage)

SATURDAY & r & Free Range Robots -- 6:30 pm & r & Another of our buzzworthy bands for 2006 (see Seaweed Jack), the Robots play jammy, eclectic rock with kind of a '60s/'70s pop sound and an emphasis on foot-tappery. (City Hall Stage)

Lisa Haley and the Zydekats -- 8 pm & r & We've never heard this California-based group, but we firmly believe in the ability of Cajun and zydeco music to get people off their feet. (City Hall Stage)

SUNDAY & r & Jr. Cadillac -- 1:30 pm & r & Jr. Cadillac has been around longer than God. We saw them bluesing up Bumbershoot when we were still in Underoos. (Clocktower Stage)

Jim Boyd -- 1:30 pm & r & Multi-NAMMY winner Jim Boyd deigns to give us locals a taste of his rez-rock. (City Hall Stage)

Alejandro Escovedo -- 8 pm & r & (See story in our Music Section.) (City Hall Stage)

The Grass Roots -- 8 pm & r & The band registered 14 Top 40 hits back in the late '60s, early '70s -- including "Let's Live for Today," "Midnight Confessions," "Temptation Eyes," and "Two Divided by Love." Don't remember those tunes? They're really hoping you do. (Clocktower Stage)
