For a guy who doesn´t get out to social venues much now that his son went off to college and the Empyrean closed, I must say this was a really fun (and informative event). Michael Reid did not show but a pretty sexy guy in his own right, Ben Stuckart -- executive director for Communities in Schools of Spokane County and now candidate for Spokane City council president -- did and hosted the event. The slams were powerful, entertaining and informative. If the slammers views hold sway in the legislature we will see loop holes favoring the wealthy closed, marijuana legalized, better environmental protection, more low income housing, and more. If you missed GrammaLamba and the Amendments from the Spokane Chapter of Washington Public Campaigns, don´t worry they will no doubt be out and about entertaining in the community. The slam was won by Liz Moore of PJALS (Peace and Justice League of Spokane) on the topic of "Wall Street banks: It´s time to make them play by the rules and pay their fare share." All the slams were home runs! I need to get out and about in the community more often.
