Spokane to host 2013 NCAA women's tournament games

Posted by HEIDI.GROOVER at 02:22 PM on Tue, Sep. 25, 2012

March Madness will hit Spokane again next year.

For the third time in six years, we'll host the NCAA women's tournament for three games next spring.

Tickets go on sale Monday for the March 30 and April 1, 2013 match-ups at the Spokane Arena. They'll be part of the Sweet Sixteen and the Elite Eight, with one team advancing to the Final Four in New Orleans.

Spokane hosted the tournament in 2008 and 2011, which was the highest attended Regional site of the tournament.

Here's the team's super-intense intro video from last year to get you pumped.

Tickets are $35 and $40 and can be purchased starting Monday in person at the box office (720 W. Mallon Ave.), at ticketswest.com or at 800-325-SEAT.

This is a confusing article. First of all, Spokane will be hosting far more than three games this year. Three will take place at the Arena (two Sweet Sixteen and one Elite Eight) but there will also be round of 64 and 32 games at Gonzaga.

Secondly there were round of 64 and 32 games at Gonzaga for the 2012 tournament. In 2011 there were 64, 32, 16 and 8 round games at the Gonzaga and then the Arena. Both of those years saw Gonzaga play at Gonzaga for the tournament. Making this the fourth year seeing as there will have been three straight once this rolls around.
