No pet owner wants to imagine the unthinkable — an emergency that puts a beloved four-legged friend on the operating table, fighting for life. It’s an unfortunate reality, but let’s put a positive spin on this. After a successful trial run last year, the Lincoln Heights Vet Clinic is once again hosting the Dog People Blood Drive this weekend. Dog owners are invited to bring their happy, healthy pups to screen for eligibility for becoming emergency blood donors, with the potential to save a fellow canine’s life. Dogs must be between 1 and 6 years old and weigh more than 60 lbs. to qualify. Accepted dogs then have several options to become active donors to the Spokane Pet Emergency Clinic’s blood bank. Inland Northwest Blood Center will also be on site so pet parents can donate too.
