Jimmy Baca is 58 now, an American Book Award winner and much-honored “poet of the people.” Thirty years ago, however, he’d just finished doing six years for drug possession. Self-change isn’t Baca’s only focus: One of his poetry collections is called Immigrants in Our Own Land. It’s not a big seller in Arizona.
