Welcome to the biggest-ever issue of InHealthNW. We’ve filled our new pages with lots of information — all written by reporters right here in the Inland Northwest.

I know you’ll enjoy our special “Healthy Beauty” section on ways to look and feel better. There are many options to remedy the effects of aging, and looking good can really help you feel your best. But as Daniel Walters reports, it is best to do some research before you go under the laser. Blair Tellers reports on how to get a little glow to enhance your inner beauty, even when the sun doesn’t shine. Meanwhile, move over Mary Kay, as Lisa Fairbanks-Rossi examines the latest in beauty parties — socializing over Botox.

As the health care reform debate rages on, we have an in-depth look at how other countries deal with medical care. The United States spends the most per person on health care, yet is ranked number 37 in the World Health Organization’s comparative study of country’s health care systems.

I want to encourage you to take a look at Dr. Matt Thompson’s column in our Parenting section. You’ll learn fascinating facts about the flu virus. Dr. Matt makes the case that it is more important than ever for healthy people to get the flu vaccines.

Of course, physical activity is essential to good health. Even though the weather’s not helpful, Zach Hunt has a workout you can do at home. Finally, I know you’ll enjoy reading Leah Sottile’s profile of our home-grown, national TV exercise guru, MaryAnn Wilson, creator and host of Sit and Be Fit.

To your health!
