by Jessica Henry

Public. Location: Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Founded: 1933. Student Body: 4,100+

School Started: August 26. Tuition: $772-$2,632. Phone: 208-769-3300. Web: www.nic.edu

Hangouts

Off-Campus: Nestled on the edge of Lake Coeur d'Alene, NIC students can always be found on the beach or in one of the parks along the lake. NIC is just blocks away from downtown Coeur d'Alene and the restaurants and coffee shops there, like Tito Macaroni's and Java on Sherman.

On-Campus: The Edminster Student Union building is the place to hang out and eat. Included here are the Cooked Goose Grill and Pizzeria, Filler Up, Coeur d'Alene Sandwich Builders, Granite Bay Bakery, Educated Cup, Boswell Bistro and Cardinal Catering.

Events

The early weeks of school are filled with volleyball matches galore. The volleyball team takes on the College of Eastern Utah on Sept. 5, Colorado Northwestern on Sept. 7, Walla Walla Community College on Sept. 17 and Yakima Valley Community College on Sept. 23. Wrestling begins on Nov. 1 versus Highline College. The Yap-Keehn-Um powwow takes place on October 11-12

New in 2002

Students returning to North Idaho College this fall will have several new parking options available. In an effort to help reduce some of the parking problems on campus, a temporary parking lot has been built and the operating hours for the NIC Shuttle Express have been expanded. The new NIC Hall Residence Hall opened in January of 2002.
