Channeling Jimi -- Judging from the high volume of cover bands and classic rock stations, we think this little news nugget will be of interest. Most of you probably think Jimi Hendrix is a god, and when anyone is on the tenure track to deification, his likeness will start popping up everywhere: dashboards, T-shirts, air fresheners and, in Jimi's case, guitars. For a very limited time, you can scurry on over to the Guitar Center 5628 N. Dviison, and enter to win a custom Gibson Flying V guitar donning a portrait of Hendrix painted by Shepard Fairey, and a half-stack Marshall amp. Grab a headband and you've got your very own Be Like Jimi kit. Matches to light that puppy on fire, however, are not included.

Wave of Innovation -- Sure, it's practically buried in a train yard off East Sprague, but hell, at least it's another place to record. The former Jello Tree recording studio, located on the third floor of the Wild Rose Graphics building, is open and ready to record your band. Drop Jeremy Goldsmith, owner and engineer, a line at [email protected] or (206) 234-8873.

Weird Wide Web -- You gotta see this to believe it. Or even to understand it. "Danger" Dennis Madalone, a Hollywood stunt man with nearly 100 films to his credit, has become an overnight sensation on the Internet with a hideously schlocky music video for a song called "America We Stand As One," apparently some kind of tribute to victms of 9/11. This is cinematic gold, people. Beautifully clich & eacute;d lyrics over shots of the shaggy Madalone emoting from rocky crags, ghostly firefighters appearing over the sea and the tide washing ashore in the colors of the American flag. It brought tears to our patriotic eyes. See it at www.americawestandasone.com. (And we wonder why the French hate us).
